Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 Has The Exclusives But Where Are The System Sellers?

This.

IMO System movers only occur early on in the system's life cycle, in the case of PS3 it was the first "wow-AAA" game that was the MGS4, in case of X360 it was Halo 3. But after that the systems tend to sell well on revisions and price cuts as someone had pointed out earlier, most iterations provide a small boost of about ~50-100k, depending on the game but after that it's just a freefall.

Exclusives push sales earlier on because there is no past library to talk about. Once the library is built up the boost they provide is insignificant or minimal.

The fact of the matter is, some games, even sequels, can cause a surge in hardware sales surrounding their release.  It's unlikely anybody is buying the console solely for that game, but it is likely that that game caused some people to finally get a console they had been interested in getting for some time before that.

And of course, there's always the possibility of somebody's console dying, and them not bothering to get a new one until the next installment of their favorite franchise is released.  I'm sure this happens far more this gen than any other, given the reliability of pre-S 360s and 60gb PS3s.

MS is in the billions we know that

Anyways as for the title, how do you know there aren't any system sellers how do you know there aren't so many system sellers that the console sales never go down so month v month comparisons are useless

I disagree. I bought a gbc for pokemon red and was planning to buy an N64 just for Pokemon Stadium (my best friend bought me one this christmas with pokemon stadium, it was a dream come true).

I don't have a good pc, but I plan to buy one just for the new Heroes of Might and Magic game. I was so sure that I would not need one (since IMHO consoles have the best exclusives) but I just can't miss on that one.

Every exclusive is a little system seller. Bit by bit sales will keep going up with every exclusive that comes.

So everytime the Wii brought out games like.

Wii Fit

Super Smash Bros Brawl

Wii Sports Resorts

Wii Fit Plus

Mario Kart Wii

New Super Marios Bro Wii.

The fact that the Wii always went on a huge selling streak. Has nothing to do with console sellers. Also that all of the games have sold over 10million. In some cases over 15, and others over 20 million.

Everytime Halo releases the 360 surges for that month. Those same Halo games are 10 million sellers or about 7 million.

The PS3 titles No 10 million sellers, and no huge numbers in console sales. The PS3 only has 2 exclusive 5 million sellers. Console sellers are real just because the PS3 doesn't have any doesn't mean it not true!

Just because someone is saying something different. Doesn't mean their point of view is right!

GTA5 exclusivity will be a system seller. ME3 exclusivity is a system seller. The problem is that sony never really had a huge system seller in the U.S. They had a huge system seller for europe and a huge system seller for japan. But sony needs that one super amazing title like GTA5 to sell PS3s in the U.S.  FF13 could have been a huge system seller if it stayed exclusive thats why i think versus 13 will be a system seller unless ff13 just left a bad taste in people's mouth.

Sony will sell more systems based on great exclusives combined. Not just a single game has sold systems before, It's always a combination of games with two exceptions to the rule that I can remember of: XBox 1 - Halo 1 2 and Gameboy - Pokemon.

With 11 great exclusives in 2011 theres little reason not to buy a PS3. Buy one if you didn't already.

It's just that simple.

I bought the ps3 to plays its games,so they're the system seller.

Thats why people buy the system the libary itself is a system seller.

I don't know why people think differently.
