Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will your favourite game of all time ever be topped?

Fallout 3

And probably not but you never know with Skyrim coming this year! It could be awesome.

Super Mario 64.

It may be topped but it's going to be tought. Metal Gear Solid 2/3, and Arkham Asylum ALMOST did it.

Well it's kind of weird for me. My favourite game of all time is probably Heroes III. However every new installment seems to be better in some way. Right now King's Bounty which is totally a Heroes rip off is the most enjoyable game I've played, because it has all the awesome stuff and leaves out everything I did not like about heroes. So I guess my favourite game will probably keep changing every year or so.

Chrono Trigger, and under no concept any game will be even close to top it.

My Top3 games aren't even one year old, so... yes, my favourite game of all time can be topped. It could be this year, it could be next year, it could be later or never, but it can happen.

1. Persona 4

2. No - well not from this gen anyway. The only type of game I reckon could top it for me would be another story-driven JRPG and this gen has been pretty bad for that IMO. Maybe Persona 5 will be just as fresh and exciting as P4, or maybe I should look back to Persona 3...

Persona 3 is much better than Persona 4.... in story anyway. The gameplay is not as good as P4. P4 was an incredible game, but one thing that bugged me was that its plot mostly derived from plot twist instead of any real development or thinking.

P3 just dominates in that area. Most incredible character development I've ever seen, though it's music is not as good as P4.

Persona 3 is my favorite game ever though.

1 - Pokemon Blue, Kingdom Hearts, or KOTOR.

2 - I think KOTOR could be fairly easily topped if Bioware ever goes back and makes a legitimate KOTOR 3 with their best team in the future. Pokemon and KH will be much tougher to top because they're riding on so much nostalgia. I will say that anything is possible but Gamefreak and SE would really need to recreate that feeling of childhood wonder those two games brought.

Regularly. For me a new experience is almost always preferable over replaying an old game/movie. Not knowing what's going to happen is the most fun and can unfortunately only be experienced once.

If I could wipe my memory I would first watch princess mononoke and spirited away again then play ico and sotc followed by grim fandango, windwaker and start a new character in everquest.

I'll still replay ico and sotc when the HD remake comes out, same as I also rebuy HD releases of my favourite movies, but it never beats the first experience.

The best games for me are the ones I want to play as slow as possible, dreading the moment I'll reach the end credits. The last game that did that for me was Okami. Thankfully that was a pretty long game.

I'm hoping The last guardian will be able to take the crown.

I wish I could be like this. I'm always tempted to re-play my favourite games and re-watch my favourite movies when I've got a lot of time and nothing to do. I must have completed Crash Bandicoot 3 about 10 times now.

Don't feel bad, I wish I could be more like you. That would have saved me soo much money. I don't know what's wrong with me that I rent crap like saw 4 instead of just popping in any of the hundreds of great movies I have lying around at home.
