Do you know what a fad is? It's something that does insanenly well when it is first released but then drops off in a huge way soon after (a few years tops). I don't not think the Wii is a fad in anyway, but it could still be proven.
I think we need to come up with an exact length of time to have a working functional definition of fads here. I think 14 months is way too long to be considered a fad. The only other time I've seen the fad argument used this much was with the DS, and we saw how that turned out. So if the Wii's a fad in the same way the DS was, then I whole-heartedly agree.

Beanie Babies have lasted 14 years and counting, and it seems their "fadness" was for 4 or 5 years in the middle. Wikipedia's list of fads includes things like drive-in movie theaters, which lasted over a decade.
So if we're going by that definition, sure, call the Wii a fad, but it can still last over a decade and become the best-selling console of all time. So the word is basically meaningless.

yes, wii is a fad, people are starting to return their wii to Nintendo and get their money back, so Nintendo will go bankruptcy next year. 3rd party companies finally realize they earn too much money from Xbox360, and decide to stop all 360 projects. PS3 starts to dominate from next second and sell 20 million a day alone in US........

No consensus on this. That occurs when a large group of people agree on something - not what has happened here.
How about:
- Wii is not a fad
- PS3 is not going to sell 25m in '08
- 360 has plenty of games in '08
I think we have a much better chance getting a consensus on this :)

Uhh, I wasnt serious at all that I believe in these predictions. I actually think that they are all entirely false. I just said that these are what opposing console owners keep ranting over and over again week after week, month after month. Thats a fact.
