Forums - Gaming Discussion - Activision to buy Take Two?

They obviously want to rely on these companies because they are awful at making games, I'm sorry it's the truth.

If this happens Rockstar, Irrational and Firaxis better all get the Blizzard treatment.

Though I don't see any of those guys letting themselves be pressured in releasing games at a fixed time.

Agreed.   Fold irrational back into Rockstar, then let the major teams there work as is (and keep the Rockstar branding).  I think Firaxis under Activision would be fine though, Civilization is already on a pretty frequent schedule.

2K would all go under Activision.  I'm sure a lot of resources would be put into 2K Sports, Activision would LOVE to have a piece of the annual sports game pie.  When is EA's NFL exclusivity contract up again?

People on almost all gaming websites are like "Nooooooooooo"

so how much bigger is activision compared to take two? Does activision really have enough to buy take two?

Edit: a better way to look at it would probably be market eveluation with Activision-Blizzard siting at 13.21B and take 2 siting at 1.37B.

If take 2 want more stability and to keep their identity they would be better off merging with ZeniMax Media (Bethesda) or THQ IMO and a merger with ether of those companies would make them one of the biggest publishers around.

Let me put it this way last year take 2 made $334.3 Million in revenue, Activision-Blizzard made $4,447 Million (that's almost 4 and a half Billion) so more than 13*larger.

I think that Take 2 number is for one quartre only.

On a yearly basis it should be more like 1,1 billion. Still four times as small.

While you're at it, do you have the figures for the likes of EA and Ubisoft?

My website: Precocious Ragamuffin

It is inevitable.

Now you realise why Nintendo's slow evolution in technology benefits ALL developers. If its too expensive to make the games, well this is what happens. The real fear is competition right now because, if Konami and Capcom don't merge, who the hell can compete with EA?

But having said all this, rumours of EA's Take Two take over have existed for years, since right after GTA4's release, so who knows if the market itself even believes this shit anymore.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
