Forums - Gaming Discussion - okay its been like 3 months+ Does Kinect work

Virtua Fighter revolutionized 3D fighting, but Tekken got all the fame for it.

The Eye-toy and the Wiimote, revolutionized gaming by adding motion in a true fashion, but Kinect is getting all the fame. That's not right. Although I doubt MS is profiting with the thing.

It's not the same thing, that's maybe why.

I've had a Kinect since the first day it came out. I have Kinect Adventures, Dance Central and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. To this day I still play with my Kinect and can't wait for Yoostar 2 to come out. After that I'm looking forward to The Gunstringer, Kinect Gears of War, Steel Battalion, Project Draco, and a few others. I really like it and I think it works really well. If you are looking for a good time, with some physical elements Kinect is a great fit!

They deserve the credit. They are bringing an entirely new way of interaction and accessibility to the world of gaming. I applaud them for their hard work and for creating an amazing device. Supposedly they are making quite a profit off of each unit sold as well. How much profit isn't exactly known, but Microsoft has stated they they are making money on every unit sold.

Does it work?

Yes.

How does it work?

I can only speak about Kinect Adventures, since that's the only game that I've played, and the lag is noticable.  Extremely noticable.  You have to move at least a quarter of a second before you want the onscreen person to move.  This isn't to say that it isn't fun at all, but it definitely needs some work.

It's probably a very small ammount and definitely doesn't include marketing including viral which was rampant, and still is. There's nothing new about it practically, it's just a fancy piece of technology that does what has already been done a little bit better.

Am I the only one who thinks Kinect's most interesting game coming soon is Michael Jackson: The Experience?!

I know it's also coming for the Move but let's be honest, it looks 100 times more fun on Kinect.

That's one I'm really looking forward even though I still haven't figured how I'm going to try it.

I have to be both at a friend's house and alone lolz.

played a little bit of Kinect Sports its ok, im with the OP on the Wii thing though, was kinda dissapointed it was not one to one. but I guess like Kinect some games could cover it up  better than some (boxing was really bad on Wii Sports)

@boustros your not alone, i think Ubisoft messed up by not having it ready with the WII/PSP/DS versions. it could have been even bigger. But Its better to have a late good game, than have a early messed up game. Im confident that the Kinect version will be the best of them all

tried it out at best buy about 2 months ago. it was a disaster for me but i guess thats because it wasnt callibrated correctly
