The Red Dead of this year? I think so.

You're just mad because it's not coming out on the PSP.

My impressions exactly. Nothing is EVER as good as Rockstar has you believe it is. I'll pick this up when it's $20 and maybe I won't be as disappointed in them as I have been lately.

Srsly, people need to keep their goddamn pants on when it comes to rockstar hype. Just like GG with the Killzone series, I think rockstar is better at making trailers/hype than actually making games.

How does that have anything to do with who is making it? Rockstar is not developing the game, and when was the last time Rockstar made a game that plays a lot like an adventure game?

Yes, you are correct. But he's trying to contradict what I said about it being a rockstar game which it is. Just the same way that Metroid OM is a Nintendo game even though Nintendo didn't actually develop it.
As for the game itself, it's a rockstar game set in a world where you can walk around and shoot people. That's all I need to know to understand how the game will work.
BTW, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the bolded. Rockstar makes a very particular type of experience that all their games have elements of EX: Bully to GTA to RDR etc. I expect this game to end up very relatable to past offerings

And I wouldn't be hyped at all if it was anything like that. L.A. Noire has an open world, but it's a narrative driven one. There isn't a bunch of things you can do on the sideline, it's just a world you can explore. It's there mainly as a backdrop for the story, with almost no side missions. There'll be a few, but they'll be few and far between.
The meat of the game is in the detective work, where you interrogate witnesses, suspects, etc., and you investigate crime scenes to find evidence. It's all about solving the crimes.
The game started out as a PS3 exclusive and Sony was paying for the development. I don't know how, but somehow it ended up with Rockstar as the publisher after some time. L.A. Noire is no more a Rockstar game then Starcraft II is an Activision game.
This looks pretty damn good, and I'd say it's fairly obvious that it's a bit of a departure from the previous Rockstar style...
VGChartz
Reminds me of Mafia 2 from the cops angle with better graphics and a new city.
To bad this isnt coming to PC... =/
