Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Lets talk about Pikmin!!

So I am very excited for Pikmin 3 (my god Nintendo just show us the damn game already!!)

Anyway lets talk about Pikmin and what things you love about it and what you would like to have in it (no I am not e secret Nintendo developer asking fans about what they want in Pikmin 3 >_>)

What new Pikmin do you think will be introduced? What colour and what abilities do you think they will have or just what you would want.

Or maybe they can upgrade some of the Pikmin they have like maybe there will be under water levels where you will swim around using the blue Pikmin. Using a school of up too 200 blue Pikmin to take down a shark like creature.

Using the pointer plus button to make Olimor move around and then pointer and other button to shoot and with the analogue stick too move the camera around. I have not played with the NPC version of Pikmin so I do not know how the controls work there but maybe it is the same.

Hmm the one Pikmin that I think would be good for hunting down creature would be on that can dig itself under ground and wait for you to lure the monster and once it is over it they will jump on the beast. This one will be brown and maybe it could be as a mine that explodes but to do that you need to feed them something.

They should not add too many Pikmin to it though maybe just one or to and give the others more abilities.

So I want to hear your thoughts as well so plz share them :)

First thing's first, NPC Pikmin was AWESOME!!! I found the games 10x more accessible and fun with wiimote controls

I heard a lot about Pikmin in the Gamecube days but I just didn't feel like trying it out then - When the NPC versions were released I finally decided to try it out, It was great! - It instantly became one of my favourite franchises. It was charming, well made and most of all, lots of fun :) - - - That's why I can't wait to see what they've got in store for Pikmin 3

I'd like the next iteration in the franchise to have more depth this time. It'd be nice to explore more varied areas too. I don't think it'd be good to have too many Pikmin types so either just add one or replace some/all of the current ones - - maybe an orange (sunny) type Pikmin, the game could have hot sunny desert type areas, the orange ones wouldn't get affected badly by it, they could also light up dark areas... etc (Yep, I don't have anything important to do today)

But most of all, I hope the devs have some great surprises in store for the sequel

But doesn’t the red one withstand heat?

Yeah it is also one of my favourite games that can easily stand next to Zelda, Mario and Metroid

Yeah, I just got carried away with the desert area thing - Bah! I must be delerious from wanting Pikmin 3 so bad - I've been waiting for soooooooo long :(

I mean at least someone like Square Enix would give you some art and a trailer along with there announcements that are years in advance - But it's been years since Nintendo's 'announced' Pikmin 3 and we literally have NOTHING

Well it is both good and bad I would not want to see something and have to wait 5 years before getting it :P but yeah they could have showed us something at last years E3 but they said it would be lost in the game crowd. I hope we get something this GDC if not then E3. Seriously if not then I am going to be soo disappointed :(

They don't need new Pikmin or new abilities.  They just need to be more creative/complicated about how you use what you have.  The first game was pretty good at this, the second (with its reliance on randomly generated dungeons) got away from this.  Add the creativity from the first with to the added troops/berries/etc. of the second, and you can get a damned good game out of it.  Just no randomly generated dungeons this time please!
