Before E3. As Ryan Payton explained in his podcast, there are no big gaming expos before MGS4 release. Also, MGO is nearly finished.

 Apparently late q2 2008, But it will mostly likely be pushed back to cash in on next xmas sales.

Despite all the trolling in this thread, there is a way to frame this question legitimately -- when do Sony's big, AAA, known franchises take off next year? From this list:

Killzone 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Grand Theft Auto 4
Final Fantasy XIII

Do we know which will be the first to launch, and when?  I know the answer isn't FF.

There are around 2 mln. of Motorstorm and Resistance worldwide sold.
There over 1 mln. of Assasin`s creed and CoD4.
There are around 700k of Heavenly Sword.
There are about 500k of Ratchet.
There about 400k of Uncharted.

With only around 8 mln. ps3 sold worldwide. These games are HIGH quality ttitles, so when PS3 sales will double, don`t be surprised, when sales of these game will double too.
PS3 is Coming. =)

Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.

Burnout and Haze? Lolol. DMC4 is where it's at.

 I wouldnt just disregard burnout and Haze just like that. If the NFS numbers are anything to go buy burnout will do just fine, especially in Europe with increased sales on the PS3 over the 360. Haze is an iffy one Ill admit; to me it looks very good, and 4 - player online co-op seems interesting, but to others it looks like another generic shooter. The delay will do it good, so it can polished off. Ill be buying it most likely unless its unanimously hated.

 DMC4 should do very well, but 3 had much lower numbers than the original and the second, hopefully not a trend to follow though cause it looks as if its shaping up to be very impressive.
