the wii has been the fastest selling console in history!(no doubt!) they have been selling higher than the other 2. (thaT is UNTIL LAST WEEK!) i think that the main reason is BECAUSE OF WIIFIT IN JAPAN!! the game has hyped the wii to a whole new level that i haven't seen in japan since the ps2!!!! also, the wii's sales increased from around 71,000 to 115,000!!! america usually buys around 300,000 wiis a week!! think about it?

wii's sales are at 172,00 last week. hmmm. THAT MUST MEAN THAT THE WII COULD HAVE BROKE 150,000 LAST WEEK IN JAPAN ALONE! (keep in mind that this is just my opinion.) let me know your thoughts to this theory!!!

My bet is retailers stockpiling for this week.

Japanes NTSC =/= American NTSC

So these Wii's could not have been meant for the American market and suddenly shipped to Japan. Altering these machines must cost some time.

Everything I've read points to retailer stockpiling. Expect a Massive boost to the Wii sales with next weeks numbers.
Even so I do expect 150K+ in Japan.

NINTENDO ORGANIZED A HUGE SUNDAY RELEASE. think about it, ioi stated that sunday the 16th had 600k+ in wii sales NA. Shipments got postponed slightly for their final hoorah. YAAARRRRHHH.

Well, Nintendo did say that they're producing 1.8 mil/month. With the VGC numbers from the last two weeks, the Wii is nearing that 1.8 mil very quickly.

Last week, 700k; This week Prob 700k+ when JP comes in.

That's already 1.4 mil

I suppose that some were already stockpiled, but this week will be the huge one with last sunday being like a "second launch" of the system. Now the Wii is really "Supply Constrained".

Indeed. Its obvious Nintendo and retailers are waiting for next week (this week) when all the REAL Christmas shoppers go out looking for Wii's. Next week wil probably by 2x the sales of this week.

And I thought they just ran out of supply because there were none left to be found.
