Why is everyone believeing doesn't need saving? Its like looking at the sky and with a metor coming your way and saying I'm not doomed. The wii's momentum is going down and we all know who to blame or atleast I hope we do.
Than we got people who say it can't be saved? Systems don't sell for no reason. Games can carry them along. Iwata once said that Gameboy sales were going down and 1 game saved it. Pokemon as we know. So it can happen they just need the games for it.

Well I agree the wii is doomed it's only in the sense that an old man is going to die relatively soon, nintendo is just going to let it channel surf for awhile and when it finally croaks they are going to release a new console

If the wii was a normal console and I mean like a stronger gamecube than yes I'll beleive this but it isn't. THe wii is a revlutionary product that  still has no motion based games that use it save wii sports and resort. If nintendo were to release a new console it won't launch due til say late 2012 the earliest.  and than we got no games for it. What wil launch with it? Wii sports 2? zelda is no ,galaxy 3 will probably come a year or so. No metroid, kirby is on wii,(miss anything?)  NOT only that but it takes 2-3 years for games to be made, Motion plus games aren't even ready yet. We should get some info on them this E3 or the next one. Also are you expecting a new console from sony or MS? No ps3 just hit 300 dollars which is the launch price of the ps2, crazy and microsoft marked kinect as a rebranding and stated that it will last til 2015

What do you think I meant when I said nintendo is going to let wii channel surf for awhile, wii's sales will continue to decline and nintendo is going to focus on 3DS until it's sales are virtually nothing then release a new console, late 2012 at the earliest more likely 2013 after that MS will release a new console soon but I'm not sure of Sony since the ps3 is so future proof it might beable to compete with the other two systems either way wii is on the decline and I don't see the decline stopping

I'll see what  you mean but I don't think nintendo will let the wii decline thats kind of a dumb move

is it? Nothing they can do would be worth the effort and they have a new handheld coming out that needs their devs attention, wii will continue to make a profit what exactly is nintendo's motivation to go all out to stave off the decline for a few years?

One of the things I think Nintendo could really do to help push software is relaunch their players choice games.

Nintendo can, but I feel like they won't.

They constantly talk about how they aren't competing against Microsoft and Sony, and how happy they are with Wii sales, and they want to focus on the 3DS right now. I feel that they haven't given up on the Wii, but are barely pulling it through until they launch their next home console.

I don't think 3ds will suck up that much support it is just a handheld but I think this discussion is worth only discussing worth to talk aboutafter E3 since we don't know nintendo's direction fully yet

It's evident that wii peeked already so I stand by what previous statements, nintendo isn't going to abandon all support or anything but they aren't going to try to push sales either

but Wii doesn't need saving though...

Theres no saving to be done. Lets use an analogy:

Let the wii be usain bolt and let the hd consoles be semi pro runners.

Usain bolt (the wii) would blaze off in the beginning and leave the others in the dust, however after a while of running at full speed, usain bolts msucles would get tired after a while (4 years in the wii's case) so he will be running at the same speed as the semi pro runners but will have the distance advantage he created when running so fast.

To summarise, the wii has slowed to the levels of the hd twins, not below. All this with only 1 price drop and 2 colours; as opposed to console relaunches, colours, huge price drops and bundles.

What does Wii need saving from exactly? It not just surpassed the Gamecube, but looks like it will end up outselling it by 500%-600%. For over two years, the demand was so high for the Wii that they could not keep them on store shelves for even minutes - this is a first in the elevctronics industry; even Apple could only manage a few months like that.

Just on the horizon: Nintendo will probably be publishing Dragon Quest X, The Last Story, and Xenoblade; there is also the Wii Vitality sensor which will replace the BMI standard in favour of a more accurate measurement of fitness in Wii Fit; and there is also Nintendo's crown jewel, The Legend of Zelda. There is also a new Kirby title, and will probably be several more titles announced for this year that no one has yet heard of.

Also, why is the focus so much on Nintendo and not the two losing consoles? The way certain journalists talk, it is as though the Wii is less successful than the Gamecube, and the other two consoles are more successful than the PS2.

It's the illusiong they, and third parties, have refused to give up for the last four years.
