Where is the option for "It doesn't need to be saved"?

It's the best selling console of this generation.

"No"

I agree. It isn't doomed. The fastest selling console of all time isn't doomed. It's making a point. People try to hate on Nintendo so much I thought I'd join in by adding my dream console

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Sorry, but I am not understanding really well... Wii is still ahead of the two other consoles, maybe is not selling as it was back in 2008/9, but hey, which console is/will?... The wii is not doomed, is just showing a decline (which I think is normal), wii will reach 100m units this year, how could anybody call a console doomed when that figure is almost a given???

Sure they need new games, Zelda SS, last story, Xenoblade, Kirby, Rythm heaven, maybe pikmin, fzero, star fox, a new mario 2D (New super mario world ---> that would be awesome)...

I honestly dont see nintendo releasing a new console this year, maybe fall 2012 or so, but not this year... Many analists are predicting a new console this year or so, but I think is not really likely to happen, they think the industry as a whole, so they want 3partys to sell a lot, and as they still think "3 parties can not sell well on the wii" they are expecting a new console to "help" third parties... Wii has/had almost no 3 party support but from Capcom, Sega, Disney, Horii (Yes horii, no Square enix) & marvelous... I dont think nintendo is going to bring a new platform just to please some analist/3parties when we all know they just dont like nintendo and their consoles, mindsets will not be broken just because of a new console...

Wow. Sales for the Wii declined after being on the market for almost 4.5 years. Gee, I wonder why that is.

I guess the only explanation is that the Wii is doomed.

You can be banned for that now, you better start bribing the mods.

Above: still the best game of the year.

The Wii's momentum is only going to decline from this point onwards, but if Nintendo plays their cards right, they can easily coast by on it for another year. They still have Skyward Sword, Vitality Sensor, Dragon Quest X (mostly for Japan), and a hell of a lot of games to localize for this year, and I'll bet they'll make a price cut at some point.

That said, the real trouble is going to start after the holidays, because as far as anyone knows, they have nothing to keep the momentum going for much longer, but at that point, they'll probably be gearing up for a new system launch, so they won't have to.

I don't think the Wii needs to be "saved", but I think that the market has evolved to a point where it will be difficult for Nintendo to dominate the market like they were before ...

Nintendo should be able to maintain respectable sales for the next several years, and might be able to outsell the HD consoles, by using price cuts and bundles to make the system more attractive to budget conscience gamers. While this would be excessive, a Wii system with 2 Wiimotes and 2 Nunchucks with Wii Sports resort and another game bundled selling for $149 or $199 would be highly attractive to countless families with limited financial resources.

So true

Also, I think people need to realise I understand it isn't doo...that word. I could go for biggest Nintendo fanboy if I wanted to!

But it's a point from IGN. So let them do that eh?

Why is everyone believeing doesn't need saving? Its like looking at the sky and with a metor coming your way and saying I'm not doomed. The wii's momentum is going down and we all know who to blame or atleast I hope we do.
Than we got people who say it can't be saved? Systems don't sell for no reason. Games can carry them along. Iwata once said that Gameboy sales were going down and 1 game saved it. Pokemon as we know. So it can happen they just need the games for it.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

I am not entirely sure how the Wii really needs saving. The generation is winding down to a close; the Wii is over 4 years old and has solidified itself as one of the most successful gaming systems in the industry's history. Not to mention, the Wii heavily outsold the Xbox 360 and the PS3 this gen for its first place position.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

What's to save? It's following a normal console cycle, like the PS2, Gamecube and PS2 ect.
