Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will Spyro and Crash be saved, or lost forever?

I hope so... They used to be  good when they were done by naughty dog, insomniac if either made a new crash/spyro game it would be a definite purchase for me.

i grew up on spyro and crash, they were brilliant games.

Activision should sell the IP's to Sony. That would be the only way of re-establishing them as AA/AAA franchises.

JUST IMAGINE what Naughty Dog would do with an open world Crash game on PS3...hmmm

I liked a lot those games but more recenlty I re-played Spyro2 and Crash Bandicoot 3 , and I don't think they were at the same standards of 16-bit and N64 era platformers (expecially Spyro), while still very good. I'd like more to see a sequel of Conker. Between the 2 I'd like more to see saved Crash.

wtf is wrong with you. Nothing went wrong with Rare. Trolling  to the max.

Okay, I really don't want to sound like a troll, but their quality has plummeted once Microsoft bought them.

Now before you, or someone claim that I'm just saying this because it's Microsoft who bought them, then no. The reason for this is because just about all the important people who were in Rare have left the company.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

There lost.

Without ND or Insomiac making them none of them have lived up to there ps1 counter parts.

They are still savable depending on who buys them away from where they are now.

Crash Reboot by Naughty Dog... I still dream.

If I had to choose one, I would pick Spyro. That game brings back many memories.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

I think they are lost, they have been reduced to being on the portables, which is not that bad, I played one Spyro game it was pretty much a 2d GOW with platforming bits, i would never buy it, but it was decent and it was no where near the quality of the PS games. I think you should just dig out your PS1, but a PS1 or 3 and get those games and enjoy, too much damage has been done, but then again, Lara is getting back on track.

I don't think Spyro or Crash are beyond saving.

The reasons for it being lost

Platformers don't sell anymore - Mario,Ratchet,  Donkey Kong, Kirby, Sonic all beg to differ selling over a million copies each. If Kirby can shift over a million copies then their is plenty of room for successful Platformers. Maybe not 6-million like on the PSOne but break a million for sure.

Activision - I gotta admit Activision is not the greatest publisher. Alot of their games suck. However I'm sure being the biggest publisher and with all the lay offs at many prominent studios. Activision should be able to put together a good team to develop a platformer.

Its too old - I gotta say that just because Spyro and Crash haven't seen a decent game in a generation doesn't mean they are beyond saving. Look at Donkey Kong, Konga and JungleBeat both bombed big time last gen yet this gen DKC:R sold over 4-million copies. I think if a proper reboot was offered creating a similiar experiance to the classics I bet it could sell a million copies easy. Even the shittiest Crash and Spyro games still broke 80K which isn't good but its better then some other games.

Big budget - Many argue that Activision wouldn't make a big budget platformer, due to low performance of both franchises. If Activision created a Wii/3DS multiplatform game they could do so for 4-million or less. That would mean the titles wouldn't even have to sell all that well to turn a profit.
