This proves MS did it right:

Timed Exclusives are worth it.

- You get the buzz and the sales

- The other guys get the sales scraps and the majority have moved on.

ME2 is a 360/PC experience, cause thats what gamers remember it as.......cause thats where most of them played it.

The PS3 version will be forgotten or remembered as an afterthought.

Timed exclusivity works, period.

Microsoft did nothing right. They have no more true core exclusives (outside of forza) after the Gears contract is up. With Mass Effect gone, there is a huge void in what their offerings hold. They better have a mind blowing E3 or else a lot of 360 owners will be buying PS3's in the states. Mark my words.

u dont get it.....business they scored a home run, getting more then 2 million sold for 360 and Sony getting the scraps

us gamers will remember it as a pc/360 game cause thats where it was relevant. ps3 ME2 buyers are basically the guys getting the sloppy seconds.

lol you must really think most gamers are irrational, impulsive idiots if you think a dry season leads millions to buy the competition. Every heard of multiplats..........u know.......90% of a consoles library...........where 360 usually gets the superior version, whether it be the game itself or LIVE making the game superior.

P.S.......most core gamers allready made their console choice. Its all about winning over casuals at this point.

I suppose that the casuals have also made the choice.

hey look at me i have only a ps3 we have better exclusives but i only have a ps3 so how could i know. i just like saying the word exclusive cause im a ps3 troll who gets exclusively no woman(or men)

CONVICTION FTW!

i was gonna buy this game because it won best xbox360  game of 2010 (it should be good) but gran turismo 5 and the fight has kept me too busy,  id have no time to play mass effect 2,  maybe later

i bought the CE for 360 when it came out. I may buy ME2 again for PS3 later on.

So...maybe 500K LTD for this...if Bioware and EA are lucky...as for those saying digital...it was what 10th ont he list, and so it probably sold 50k copies to-date.  I'm sure ME3 will sell better, somewhat on the ratio of Dragon Age and likely Dragon Age 2.

It's sold 175k at Retail in 3 Weeks. Add in downloads and we can say it's at about 200k, yeah?

Right.

BioShock on the PS3 took 8 Weeks to pass the 200k mark, and ended up at over 800,000 units sold.

The only way Mass Effect 2 will only sell 500k lifetime on the PS3 is if ME3 completely kills the sales of it off, or if the game isn't as good as many of us here like to think it is, and the legs are terrible.

True...quite true.  From a practical standpoint, they HAD to release this iteration of the game, since there was going to be no way to launch ME3 on the PS3, when the first two games where not on the platform.  Regardless, I'm still pissed at the weak offering of DLC, especially when comapred  to Dragon Age.

the game should get some nice legs once mass effect 3 comes out, of which I'm sure Bioware are expecting.  Watch, price drop to 30 a couple weeks before 3 comes out.

They may have gained the Mass Effect base of sales, but we all know more than 2 million people have played the series. On the PC it has to be one of the most ripped series of this generation. On the PS3 it's just beginning. It cannot be seen as PC/360 title because of the fact that it is a PS3/360/PC multiplatform title. If you dont like that it's just something you'll have to deal with and it now you liking it on the 360 is only a matter of opinion, when everyone can experience it in their own way.

Most gamers aren't irrational (because they are the market), and Microsoft isn't stupid. Theres a dry spell because Microsoft decided to focus elswhere. Microsoft only gets the superior version of games than the 360 depending on how well developers know each systems hardware. If you were to say Sega or Bethesda I would say yes, but if you were to say Eidos or Bioware or even many others I would say no.

The core gamers are making their choice. This is why the gap between the 360 and PS3 is slowly closing. four million for a year gap isnt bad at all. Watch and see once the flood of games come this year and 360 owners get lonely once the multiplats are devoured and they are waiting for gears to come in fall. The developers are starting to notice the active installed base of the PS3 starting to grow so they are transferring a lot of DLC to the PS3. If you want DLC on the 360 look no further than the top shooters.
