Forums - Gaming Discussion - What Was Your First Encounter With Video Gaming?

I started gaming a little late in my life, I was 10  when a friend of my sister gave her Diablo 2 and age of empires 2, and of course I played them even though I sucked pretty bad at them. Some time later another friend gave my sister a Snes emulator and the first game I booted was final fantasy mystic quest which isnt very good but still it was my first so I liked it but the one that made me a full time gamer was Chrono Trigger, after that  and beating pretty much every snes game I could my life as I knew it was changed forever.

My father bought me NES for birthday when I was only like 4 years old. First ever game I played on it was Lode Runner

Thanks for the video.  I hadn't heard of that game before.  It looked like it was fun back in the day.

Yeah, it was fun but hard as hell! :D

I lost my temper usually since the difficulty jumps after the couple first levels, lot of pad throwing happened afterwards...Though that happened during pretty much every NES-game I owned, especially on battletoads.

I know the feeling all too well.  I've thrown the 360 controller many times because of Halo or Call of Duty.

My first game was a GBC with Pokemon Blue for my 8th birthday in 2000.  Before then, I remember watching my cousin play Alone in the Dark 2 on his Saturn and Pokemon Red on his GBC and not much else.

The only game I can remember that involves punching an octopus.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World, built into a Master System II. Got it when i was about 4, i think.

The same machine that brought me Cloud Master

which I also loved.

I remember my auntie giving me an old console when i was about 8, that i dont remember the name of. but it had a bunch of retro games, one of which involved a circus?

As generic as it sounds, I'm pretty sure it was Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt on the NES.  I also played a bunch of different games on my Uncle's Atari 2600.  The first console and game I owned were the SNES and Super Mario World.  I love that game.

Joust, Bolo, Major Motion on Atari ST in 1986. I was 5 yo then.

My first experience with video games was when I was 7 or 8.

You had handheld games back then with the graphics painted on and simple digital watch like symbols flashing on and off. (Just 1 game per device) Donky kong was one of the ones I played to death.

Bomberman on the SNES I think, can't remember which one though.
