I pay 70 a month for "broadband" ha ha. The fastest I have ever gotten from this company was 100k. My cap is 200mb a day after that they cut you off literally. Your banned from there internet for twenty four hours and your connection gets throttled down to five kilobytes a second. That's twenty four consecutive hours the more you keep trying to use it after it started being throttled the longer the shit last. So basically I get "broadband" for about twenty minutes a day at the most. Long enough to do my homework go on youtube and check my email. When I first got this isp I did not know they throttled this badly I was trying to update my computer it screwed up one of the updates so I could not even use my computer for a couple of days. I called them the next day they told my to update my computer at midnight. I told them to go fuck a porcupine and then die. Fucking assholes.

I got faster speeds (340k used to be 720kb, no cap) then that with my internet on my cellphone.. for 10 euros.. >_>

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

LOL

you haven't seen Australian's ISP

other than having the slowest internet speeds in the High end league of nations we are also over priced.

I currently pay for 4mbps download, .7mbps and 50gb of downloads adn that costs me around 80 USD

but we are going to get 100 mbps fiber optics later in the year soon so yay for the 40 billion being spent on that.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

If I understand this correctly, didn't the companies promise to build an infrastructure in the 1990's if they got money and tax breaks and once they got what they wanted, they stopped holding their part of the deal and ended up lying about how much progress they were making?

I did not use to have download caps until a few years ago. Now I pay CAD 47 a month for internet for 10 mbps with a 60gb cap. HD tv is even a worse rip off then internet. Worst thing is since most our tv is american we get all the commercials for cheap packages as well :( Damn Verizon, I pay almost double for TV, internet and phone combined.

Just another example of how USA just keeps getting worse. Why America WHY???

And yes internet is way too expensive and slow compared to other countries. Lack of competition is strangling us, plus the government won't spend the money to at least get internet to people despite the obvious need for it.

It isn't the government's job to give people internet.  Also, people don't need internet.  This is at least true in the US.  Maybe you live or have been somewhere where one of the reasons the government exists is to give internet to people.  In the US, it's the job of people and private companies to work together to get internet.

No, it's not, but the private industry won't be able to roll out a faster broadband infrastructure alone. Not to mention, I doubt that other countries have so many competing ISPs (I can count 4 major competitors for the USA alone!) That's why the FCC is stepping in. Whether or not they will be successful is the question. It would be a very bad thing if the government just decided to step back and leave it alone. It could mean price hikes, or Netflix streaming could crash our insufficient broadband infrastructure. It is strange that we don't have anything better in place, though.

We pay like 30 dollars for 700 kbps internet. Verizon is a shitty service, do not ever get them. They have the worst customer service of all time.
