If the PS3 is so great, how come it can't handle the Gears 3 beta?

Bulletstorm Dev Talks Xbox 360 Hardware Limitation

Hey, we didn't say it. A lot of you have said it before, though, and maybe you've been waiting for a non-PlayStation-affiliated developer to admit it.

During an interview with Xbox Community Network, People Can Fly Creative Director for Bulletstorm Adrian Chmielarz spoke about the limitations of the aging Xbox 360 hardware. In truth, it does indeed affect what they can and can't do, although he says one can still manage to produce quality with that hardware. It's just a matter of ambition. When asked if the 360 was stopping them from doing what they'd like, the director's response was as follows:

"Yes, but any developer in the world will ALWAYS say that, no matter what. We could have 128 GB of RAM and it still won't be enough. Seriously, though, it feels pretty good making games on Xbox 360. As you can see with the exclusive titles like Halo and Gears or multiplatform titles like Bulletstorm, the quality is high enough not to feel any pressure for the next generation. People like the current gen, and I think we still have a lot of room for exploration."

The 360 has been blamed by PlayStation 3 fans for holding developers back and making multiplatform titles...well, less than they could've been. Numerous examples seem to back up that claim, but it's rare to see a developer say anything but, "the game will be identical on both platforms." Maybe it is time to admit it. PS3 exclusives sort of drive the point home.

So did you actually READ the interview and purposefully present the blatantly misrepresented data, or did you just simply cut and paste it, cause you like what it said, I wonder?

To psextreme though -agenda driven "reporting" like this, gives all game journalist a bad name.

So is that considered trolling or not?  I'm all confused on this matter because, to me, cherry-picking information for the purpose of misleading others into believing something that was not stated should be textbook trolling whether it was written by the OP or not.  But I'm not a mod so I don't know...

This, right here. Considering I have yet to see a game on either console that looks like it blows the other away even marginally, whether it be Gears of War, Mass Effect, Uncharted, God of War or whatever, this right here makes me discredit the author of any non-comfirmed information.

In any case, I lol'd.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Cherry picking at its finest.

Both consoles have their strengths and weaknesses, and its basically up to the game developer to make the game as good as they can.  If you have 5 years and an unlimited budget I am certain you can make a PS3 game a little better looking.  But is it worth it?  You could spend the same money on 2 games and double your profits.  I would take the double game and profits if it were me.

Errr WHAT?

It's true. The Gears 3 beta is exclusive to the 360 version of Bulletstorm because the PS3 isn't strong enough.

Is that a valid conclusion to draw from the absence of the beta? Perhaps it's because there isn't enough space on the Blu-ray disk.

I heard Killzone 3 beta isn't coming out for 360 because the 360 can't handle it.

And I heard that the Last Story isn't coming to either the PS3 or 360 because fanboys couldn't handle it.

After 5 years on the market, and 4 years of direct competition, it's pathetic that the PS3 fanatic cheering squad is STILL coming with the same ole tired line...lol...well, let them go ahead to keep it up...I'll take the 10 million Kinect units shipped, and the 100% improvement in Xbox consoles units shipped over the last generation as proof positive of what the 360 is capable of.
