I never intended to take the discussion to the "younger versus older gamers" topic. That's not what I meant at all.

What I am saying is that people tend to cling to their original experience as the most relevant. Truly, I insist. Try to gather two or three people who had played and loved the SNES FF games and later played and loved too the PSX games and they chose Sony's over Nintendo's.

The common asumption when you find out that those who played IV to VI originaly chose those over the VII to XIX is that those were better. What I am trying to say is that that asumption is just that, an asumption and we couldn't possibly know which is better. Everybody just choses their original and fundational experience over what might have happened later or before.

This is a tough one because the end of the SNES and beginning of PS1 era had my favourite Final Fantasy games (VI & VII). Even though the hardware was different I think they are in an era of their own (SNES/PS1). FFIV-IX share more in common (with the possible exception of VIII) than NES and PS2/PS3 eras of Final Fantasy.

I'm gonna go with PS1 simply because they re-released a load of great Final Fantasy games and it was the first gen where a mainline Final Fantasy was released in Europe.

Equal 1st PS2 and PS1.

with Super Famicom/SNES close 2nd 

but all FF Games are Awesome no mater what era. 

PS1, simply because they made remakes of the old games for it too. It's a no brainer

I was going to say SNES for the same reason - VI is the best single FF, but if we are including FF: Tactics, I would have to say the combo of it and the 3 main line PS1 games have an edge. FF Tactics was the first PS1 game I owned. As much as it pains a nintendo fan like myself, PS1 wins this one.

SNES era.  PS1 had the best spinoff though.

I like how current gen isn't even in consideration. lol.

with the fiasco XIII was . who would consider it.worst ff by a long mile for me. 

on topic:i think the ps1 era is the best mainly cause that's when i started playing rpgs and i loved ff8 back then and ff7 is just as awesome.9 is geat too simple story but very well made game

Well the gen just started =p. With atleast two FF's coming on their way a lot is possible;...Not that I expect much though..
