If it wasn't for piracy, I would never play Videogames in my life. Not being a gamer, I would never buy original games today that I have the minimum conditions to afford it.

But I don't like people that bought PS3 games and now converted back to CFW. It's a very bad habit of my country.

actually it is stealing. so what if you were not able to buy that many games a year. a while ago i was only allowed to buy 1 game every year (and i live in the us). just you having internet and typing on these forums makes you "rich" enough to afford video games

I don't like to defend piracy, most of the time i'm always discussing against it. But in this specific forum, maybe because it focuses in sales, is VERY unfair sometimes in some elitist comments.

Yea, but it is still stealing.  We know not everybody can be rich in capitalism, but in life, people aren't entitled to stuff, especially video games.  If you can't afford it, then you shouldn't be playing it.  As sad as it is, that's just how it works.  I also really don't understand why you purchased a PS3 for hundreds of dollars if you "can't" afford the games, clearly you should be spending that money on other parts of your life.

So who cares if PS3 has their Rootkit security. This isn't windows. This isn't a PC OS. a PC OS has so many services that can be exploited for being the reason why rootkit was problematic. Heck I still see rootkit viruses. But the PS3 is a closed OS and isn't service heavy for software. And if anyone wanted to make malicious software for PS3 would be wasting their time affecting only a small tiny group of people.. total waste.

This reminds me of people terrified that the NDS can get a virus because of WiFi. It was those people that thought open communications == insecurity and couldn't understand that WiFi had nothing to do with. That's when I realized that posting more than once is usually pointless unless your trying remove stupidity for other people who reading posts and not the poster who is saying something stupid. NDS finally had a virus but it was a Trojan.

So seriously look at it in this light. It's perfectly ok that NDS will have remote code execution to update itself to prevent piracy, but it's not ok for Sony to use Rootkit based code?  the difference is hyperbole. Rootkit has negative connotation and so considered not acceptable in any form.
