I beleive a new console will be released late 2012 as earliest. Nintendo will be busy with the 3DS

Maybe, it will be late in the year at any rate. Maybe at TGS. Launch could be late 2012 (I've always maintained that this is the year that the next generation starts).

There's 0 reason to do it this year, since the Wii is doing just fine.

God I hope not, it's a tad early and I don't think they will release their next handheld close to their new console, I say late E3 2012 the proper unveiling and maybe release it late 2012 in Japan and early 2013 in the west.

Doing that would be a really bad strategy.

Give 3DS a time to shine all alone, after a while they could announce the next console.

Is nonsense spliting efforts in two new hardwares, it's wiser release one and stabilish it, than release another one.

After all, even being from the same company, those 2 will be competing in sales.

but i hope they have a whole new console with a different name from Wii 2,as i like the way they have different names for most of their consoles

although i'm not sure what makes better business sense keeping a connection with the wii or not for the huge amount of owners already,i'm sure nintendo know best

Late 2012 it'll launch. For all the profit they've made, Nintendo don't have the resources to support and launch a completely new handheld and home console inside of the same year. Their internal teams will be stretched enough as it is until the first wave of 3DS games are done, and until the last wave of Wii games are done. I don't doubt they're working on a successor, but I can't see them announcing a new home console for launch this year. They MIGHT announce a codename or something, at the most.

They have enough to compete with against Apple/Sony to make sure 3DS gets off to a successful start without worrying about launching a new home console. Plus, they're going to need to take their time to get third parties on board for their next home console, and part of that is doing whatever they can to see 3rd party success on 3DS.

Nintendo needs to release a new console in Japan, Wii is on its last legs. I'd expect a new home console to be released early 2012 in Japan at least.

No announcement this year, probably announcenemt at GDC or E3 2012 for a 2013 launch.

There's still Zelda: Skyward Sword, DQX, and not to forget there yet to be an announced Wii Starfox game.

I'd bet that Nintendo will hold out till Sony or MS announcement a next gen system first. Nintendo has never been first to market, as far as I can recall.
