power has never been the reason a console has won, I doubt it will be the deciding factor next gen.

kind of both actually. sony innovated with blu ray and the cell. micro innovated with xbox live.wii pretty much innovated with its controller design. so yeah innovate but make sure you have some power to go along with it (thats why my wii is collecting dust)

You need power first to innovate. Reliable speech recognition needs a lot of resources. Hi-res low latency kinect processing needs a lot of cpu cycles and memory. Imagine what you can do with a 1280x768 60fps kinect. You want innovative realistic AI, you need memory and cpu cycles for that. 60fps 3D same.

The problem with games nowadays is that all the extra power goes to producing better graphics first. The cell spe's are mostly just used to help the graphics pipeline instead of using them for innovative gaming experiences.

We need more power and less focus on graphics to get away from only interacting with the world by shooting/hacking and choosing standard canned resposes in 'conversations'.

When has power ever decided a generation?

What matters is innovation and software support, not necessarily in that order.

I hope innovation wins because I'm tired of seeing FPS clones dominate the market.  It has to end at some point.

Are people really getting hyped up for this?

You chose Killzone to troll, really? There are much, much better examples of games that are lacking innovation, like COD,Mario,NFS...(current generation ones)

Lol yeah Mario is just copy and past unlike most FPS games out there >_>

Well I go with innovation but it needs power to show it of. The power of innovation

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Power is completely irrelevant to a console's performance (except perhaps in raising its manufacturing cost and price to limit its audience). Innovation can help, but it's mostly up to luck and other stuff like marketing whether or not it does.

What really matters is legacy - the reason SNES and PS2 came on top and the reason PS3 was able to survive early on. Unless someone innovates well, a generation's winner is decided before any console is even announced.

The innovation of raw power.

I'd rather see something new than something that's similar to before but with extra grunt. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't want both...
