Forums - Sony Discussion - So will the NGP have at least some kind of PSP backwards compatibility?

Ajescent said:

I guess the reason I don't see this as a big issue is because I only use my psp for short journeys and take the one game I plan to be playing for a while, in this case: FFT wotl. I chose it because it will last me a while and I can get home and pick something else.

But at the same time...once I get games for the psp2, I doubt I'll really go back to my psp1 games. I said I would go back and play ps2 games once I got a ps3...after Persona 4...I haven't touched my ps2 in over a year. Why? Because my ps3 has more games than I know what to do with. I occasionally buy psOne classic. I play them for a couple of days and then go back to my ps3 games, why? Because the novelty wears off rapidily.

Also, you get to remind yourself just how awful some games really were. e.g Syphon Filter 1 I remember playing that and think that game was the shit, I got it free from psnplus, played it for about 2hrs and realised how annoying that game was, controls are REALLY bad, dialog is bad, voice acting is worse. So screw BC and progress onwards and upwards!

Then this thread isn't for you.

So, if I don't agree with the majority, I should shut up? I usually take that approach but once in a while, I feel I have to say something ¬_¬

No, "not for you" doesn't mean "shut up". I means "then if you must reply, at least note right off the bat that you have a differing need and opinion, so that it doesn't look like you are disagreeing for the sake of it", which I've run into myself a few times.

I see your point.

Yeah, I find disclosure in that way is one of the best ways to avoid arguments on threads (unless you get some people who want to twist your words, but that's a different matter).

For me, while some games just don't hold up later, I find I like replaying the ones that do hold up. So personally, BC is great for that, especially for portables (so glad I have a DSLite, so I can enjoy my GBA games as well).

If/when the pirates hack the NGP all the PSP pirates will be able to transfer their games to the NGP. It's a pity for the legitimate customers that the pirates often get a better deal on things like this.

Tease.

It's already been confirmed that all psn games are playable.

But for hacked NGPs all PSP games will be playable as well as... games on emulators.

Yeah, me too. It's amazing how you can play old AND new games on newer hardware. You get the best of both worlds. What's not to love?
