Forums - Sony Discussion - NGP is so getting a 3D screen, just look at this statement.

Firstly, I wanna ask to keep a mature discussion here. Enough dick measuring between all of us already.

I don't know about you but I am most probably getting both platforms, but as I'm not a rich bastard I have to decide for the cheapest and more compeling console software wise - for my gaming tastes - thats why I'm getting a 3DS first and an NGP when price is unresistable and library is as good as PS3 is today.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the white flag raised, take a look at this statement by a Sony rep. This is from the article, Sony Doesn't Think 3D Should be Portable, in the main page of vgchartz.

"In the development process, we had studied the possibility of introducing stereoscopic 3D feature(s) to NGP, but decided not to install it."

Ok.

"After careful consideration of our goal of offering users the ultimate portable entertainment experience with a revolutionary user interface we have decided to focus on the features and specs announced today first."

...

"(...) we have decided to focus on the features and specs announced today first."

Hmmm....

"(...) focus on the features and specs announced today first."

FIRST?

PHARST????

PRIMER???

BOOBS?!!?!

First, means obviously the initial NGP design.

If Sony has learned any lesson from the current gen, they know that underestimating Nintendo is not a good idea, and this time they will make sure that Nintendo won't be bragging about 3DS unique 3D screen for 4 years before Sony introduces their own put-your-3D-glasses-in-the-trash-can 3D screen.

Next PSP revision will bring a 3D screen. Its the truth.

i don't think touch screen can work with 3D. not saying the technology is not avaiable, You know, 3D works by distorting the sense of depth.  it will be very hard to keep the sense of depth in order to "touch" the object when 3D is enabled.

Edit: to make it clearer. 3D tech make us think the part of (or the entire) object is nearer to our eyes than the screen. But in order to interact with the object, we need to poke though the object and touch the screen. Imagine to touch a 3d object without know the distance to the object. It is very hard. I don't want to keep twisting my senses while playing games.

Decided not to install it?  You know, what you're saying makes sense... The tech is there, and could be installed after an update...  NGP already allows us to interact with the games IN 3D... so, with one, you watch in 3D, the other, you interact in 3D.

So, you're kinda getting the 3D experience either way, just given differently.

And, to above... There's cameras on the NGP, it should be able to make an accurate measurement of where your hands are, and act accordingly... Sure, you wont touch -.. wait, nevermind, that wont work...  Well, put your fingers through the 3D objects, or something..

it's just not a good experience. I would rather not using 3d at all. after all, I still think 3d is better on bigger screens. Hope the glass-less 3DTV can hit the mainstream soon.

Of course it's getting one:

Step 1: Nintendo does something.

Step 2: Sony swears they'd never indulge in such gimmickry.

Step 3: Nintendo succeeds with it.

Step 4: Sony copies it.

I mean the 3D effect like theatres. The way NGP lets you interact in 3D using gyro sensor and accelerometers is also available on the 3DS and Iphone4.

Also, 3D with touch screen might be awkward but it will happen. LG is presenting a 3D touch screen for their upcoming phones, Apple may be jumping ship too with iPhone3D. You can always turn the 3D off like the 3DS slider, I suppose.

No...

I think I've seen this before :)

The top screen is only 3D.

OT: Sony regained part of my belief in them with how sexy the PSP2 was. If they put 3D in, I will personally kill every Sony employee.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

They can do it by either giving users glasses or lenticular lenses that they put over the screen and ta da. Stereoscopic 3D, of course it would be an awkward solution and they'd be laughed at by everybody.
