Forums - Sony Discussion - NGP lacking much support

Why are you comparing the marketing strategies of Sony with Ninty. They do things differently, always have done. I fully expect games to be announced on a regular basis between now and launch.

dude don't you think you're making a few too many threads before checking info? They did give a HUGE list of 3rd party who are working on games for the device. Check the PS meeting thread OP for the list (a bit cluttered since the source had it cluttered mind you)

there are GDC, E3, GC and TGS coming up before launch, they will show the games don't worry

What info did I not check in which threads?

Yes its true their is a list of studios with kits. Its a good and long list but that list does not nescessarily translate into games. Also I did mention Warner's studio that made the new Mortal Kombat they to have had a kit for awhile.

What I was getting at is for a press conference unvieling a new platform they sure didn't have the software to back it up. All we saw were mostly tech demo's showing it could run PS3 games. We did not see all that much new content except for the few Sony titles.

Also the day Nintendo revealed the 3DS they also made a huge list of titles in development availible and that same day leaked screens for several other titles. I thought Sony would do the same revealing quite a few titles, also since Sony had almost a year of time to prepare their presentation I thought their would be more confirmed third party titles present.

Also note I haven't been reading the official thread its a mess. I have been relying on Kotaku, IGN and GameSpot's live blog!

you seem to forget 3ds was anounced at e3.

this isnt even gamescom. it just a press conference to say the psp2 exists.

e3 has demos, the press, and gamers.

Relax, there's a ton of conferences from now to the time it releases. There's no reason not to save things for later in this situation. With Nintendo, they revealed the 3DS at E3, where gamers around the world are watching closely. Wait until later to see how it turns out.

The whole event was to unveil the product and to let the world see what it's capable of and we did see that...fans got pretty much what they wanted on all fronts.

Unless this thread is about a prediction you are making, this is doom and gloom without knowing what's gonna happen. At least wait until we know of the games it will get (which we WILL know with the upcoming major events) before then these threads serve no purpose.

And Sony doesn't have to do everything the way Nintendo does it. I think you are caught up in that idea a bit too much. They will reveal things when they think best and so far so good.

Actually to be honest I love the idea of NPG. I need a GPS and the augmented reality idea is something I am really interested in. I will probubly make a thread about Augmented reality very soon and it will not be a negative thread about NPG.

This thread was to draw attention to the fact that only a couple third party titles were present. I also have the question about when they would show off potential titles. The thread is hardly useless if the OP is read and discussed in a mature fashion , which it is being.

Me thinking Sony should do what Nintendo does is partially the reason I am dissapointed in the lack of third party titles confirmed. The other part is I really expected Sony to attempt to crush Nintendo with this press conference. I over estimated Sony thinking they would show about 7 or so first party titles and a handful of third party titles (At least five).

With 3DS only two months from launch I expected Sony to go on the major offensive. The specs are definatly in line with what I expected from Sony. But I also expected them to try and capitalize on the fact that 3DS launches in only two months. Now would be the time to reveal your big guns to do as much damage to 3DS's launch as physically possible.

I was more over estimating Sony's offensive strategy rather then thinking they should do what Nintendo does. I wanted to see something that would fight for my money , try to prevent me from buying a 3DS. Sony did not give me any software at this conference to really shake my decision to buy a 3DS.

But I must say if they do later on at E3 or when ever and the price is right I will of course be purchasing one just like every other gamer here at least most (In this thread)

I don't agree with that line of thinking. To stop people from buying 3DS they need constant media exposure. So they started with bang showing what the console is capable hardware wise which should fuel discussions and speculations threads for some time and I expect we will start seeing game annoucments over incoming weeks for NGS to be constantly at the headlines of gaming media before 3DS launches after all new game for new platform is lot more interesting than 10th trailer from Street Fighter etc.

so to summarize your post you expected sony to show of npg titles to hurt the launch of the 3ds? considering the 3ds has a verys trong first year line up, even if sony anounced an exclusive monster hunter, and an exclusive cod, and an exclusive dragon quest, the 3ds launch would be the same.

Well I totally agree with your line of thinking as well. If Sony does reveal more games in the next two months leading up to 3DS launch then that would be a great offensive plan. I particularily prefer blowing the competition out of the water all at once opposed to slowly but both would work. Great thinking.

A game a week would be enough to nudge the 3DS off the top of the news boards. Maybe give some new trailers and content leading up to 3DS. But I do think E3 would be to late to really damage Nintendo, which I think Sony really needs to and wants to do.

Why are you comparing library that was now barely annouced to one that was slowly revelead over several months ?

And they had Capcom, Sega, Konami, Square Enix, Activision, Epic and we know EA had dev kits long ago (they were source of first leeks iirc)

i think the only major absence would be Ubisoft so far and honestly they can keep all the Imagine titles for 3DS all they want.

Ubisoft are supporting the NGP...

I'm pretty glad with what was shown, to be honest the point of the conference wasn't software but hardware, just sounds like we've got some decent first party stuff lined up too, and a few majors franchises from third parties already. The big difference is this isn't E3, EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Capcom etc arn't present at this conference and most likely don't want to show off whatever they've got lined up against the bigger announcement of the console itself.

If we really need to do the Nintendo comparison, I believe at their E3 conference they only really talked about 7 or 8 games too (Only Kid Icarus had a trailer I think?). I think they pretty much just threw out a list of publishers working on games alot like Sony did today and listed off a few franchises.

Rushed this Thread out a little to fast too Didn't you?

The support is Great Already..Just Wait for E3.
