Here are my predictions for 2008:

Wii: More of the same. Only that it'll sell 3-4 million units more.

360: It WILL sell more than this year. It will sell 1-2 million units more because of price cut (Pro: $320, Aracade: $270, Elite: $375) and GTA IV. It will improve in the 'others' region, but get outsold by PS3 constantly.

PS3: It will sell 1 million units more and 'others' region will be its biggest gain. And there will be no price cut.



End of 2008 predcition:

Wii: 34 million

360: 23-26.5 million

PS3: 15-18 million

10 reasons why I think the PS3 will take off for Japan in the future (exact release datas unknow, but high anticipation):

1) Final Fantasy XIII
2) Biohazard 5
3) Metal Gear Solid 4
4) Devil May Cry 4
5) The Last Remnant
6) Final Fantasy Versus XIII
7) Gran Turismo 5
8) White Knight Story
9) Kingdom Hearts III

As for the few multiplatform 360/PS3 games mentioned above note that for example the PS3 version of World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 outsold the XBox 360 version 8:1 during simultaneous release, so I think the PS3 versions will have more of an effect.

Do you think PDAs and smartphones compete much with desktop PCs? You can do almost everything on their small screens, browse the internet, send emails, watch movies, play games, a majority of functions desktop PCs are used for!

I agree with this, but with one distinction, I think it has evolved rather then dissappeared. The differences still exist but they are less than ever before and will likely continue to diminish.

Shams, why do you make these threads and you know its going to start flame wars?

We all know that the Wii/DS will thrive for attention and win again, PSP/PS3 will fail, Xbox 360 will bash the PS3 until Sony calls quits and pulls the plug.

Is that what you want?

The Wii isn't sold out here in the Netherlands. IMO there is little reason for the Wii to sell out currently, it's not a technically difficult product for Nintendo to mass produce and Nintendo has more than enough resources nowadays. I think it's partially artificial.
