She said Etro in the trailer, so looks like they are going deeper into the lore this time which is good as the lore for the game was great. I am mildly interested, that might turn into more after gameplay details come out. I hope its more open, I hope towns come back. They can keep the battle system, that was good.

Pretty much exactly how I feel.  I personally was a big fan of Final Fantasy XIII, I though it had a great world and lore to explore (well what little bit they actually delved into) and thought the battle system was excellent.  But it always was indeed missing those things that really couldn've taken it to the next level.  The stuff like you mentioned it being more open and the addition of towns and reducing how linear it was.

Square Enix have promised that this one will address the complaints of the fans so personally I'm supre hyped if indeed they add that stuff and keep the awesome elements of XIII.

Mildly interested, though I know I'll never be playing FF13, so I won't be picking it up to continue the story. I'm only mildly interested because nothing has been shown to discourage me about the quality of the game, but there is plenty of time for that to happen in yet.

They can keep the basis of the battle system, but still improve on it.  Allow us to control the entire party directly if we so wish.  

And seriously, Square-Enix, don't force us through a 20 hours long tutorial before giving us the full scope of the battle system.  Geez.

How come you'll never play FF13?  Its no where near as bad as people try to make it out to be.

I can't play a 10-20 hours tutorial all the way through. I know my gaming tastes well enough to know that I will hate myself for spending money on something that takes that long to get going, because I won't be able to get beyond that.

Yeah definetely, the original press release did say the battle system is being evolved, so I think thats what they'll add. If it retains the same battle system with the improvements you mentioned, becomes more open and gets towns its well on its way to be a good game. The trailer's feel seemed a bit darker than FF13 so that was good. I hope toriyama gets his act together.

if the game is more open and less boring with a good story and better characters, good side missions, no more running in straight lines, keeping the main character as the main character, bring back the victory theme from past FF games, bring back towns and citys, and kill of that annoying blond haird kid then il get it
