Some of the responses to this ... do you guys really not see the colors you are displaying?  Sometimes this community never ceases to amaze me.

The truth about these kinds of hackers is that they are not evil.  Many will take their hacks and pirate with them, MS wants to take their hacks and learn from them.  It IS PR.  Good PR.  PR that tells the jailbreakers that we'll work with you if your intentions are not to destroy.  Its going to happen anyway, so why not work with them?  It's the same approach that the music industry should've taken with Napster at the start instead of trying to shut it all down.

lol yes but I think he's right twice in a row actually. (first was about the sum of Halo 3 marketing). It's a marketing ploy from MS who feel they don't have much to lose as an underdog in the mobile market. They're probably thinking, why not take this opportunity and gain some rep among gangsters and thugs?

MS pooped in his pants.

MS relies on piracy to promote sales of their platforms. I already wrote about it so I won't again. MS only needs to keep "face" with 3rd parties. So they give their security division a small budget. Well ok the small budget is leading assumption :D

I'll be the first to say that SONY shouldn't sue geohot but instead should use him to help keep their gear pirate free.

That said, its a damn phone. MS has nothing to lose letting this guy hack up their phone, especially since its mostely a dud compared to iPhone or all the android phones out there. SONY has alot to lose when it comes to the hacks by geohot.

Lets not forget that geohot is a spotlight whore.
