Why do people still buy Wii fit... I will never understand
Still nice sales, the real slump will begin when clearance sales end in all the biggest markets...

Because they like it. What's not to understand

It's not fan hope. The Wii is dropping much faster than the PS3. It could happen as early as next week! And saying there's no way in hell is going pretty far, don't you think? It will happen sometime this year, as it did last year. |
Err, you really call 4% "much faster"? Last week, the PS3 dropped slightly faster - this is hardly a trend. There is a possibility that it could happen next week, but it doesn't look likely, in my opinion. And, even then, it's still not struggling to sell along with PS3 nearly as much as it is in Japan.
Also, I apologize. I think I made myself unclear. I meant "there's no way in hell it'll ever go below PS3 for an extended period of time in Americas", as in, for quite a few weeks in a row.

Well the Wii is still a lot cheaper than the PS3, and if there is a price cut for the PS3, despite the price cuts of the Wii or 360, the PS3 could edge it out. but it also depends on how Sony advertises their upcoming software, i think LBP2, and Killzone 3 next month are going to help a lot.
and to an extent its also based on the 360, the PS3 and the 360 compete for the same market, if the PS3 can edge out the 360 for the next few months with the software, then its possible that the PS3 will edge out the Wii, although not by much. but Microsoft also compete for the casual market now, that could be affecting the Wii's sales also.

After the holidays the Wii has dropped much faster, that's what I meant. From 640k at its height to 120k now while the PS3 went from 458k to 115k now. Wii/PS3 sales ratio going from 1.32 to 1.03 is a pretty good indicator for things to come I think. |
That's happened every holiday. These are simply weeks when Wii drops harsher - they've never signified a significant decline over the long term before, though PS3 is indeed fairly close this time and I'm not dismissing your idea in EMEAA completely.

Wii PS3 Gap
Wii will be lower next week for sure

I don't think they have been quite so close before right after the holidays or have they? |
Last year Wii had an amazing quarter 1. IIRC it was actually the best quarter 1 it had ever had in its lifetime. PS3 didn't even have a single week ahead of it in EMEAA until June.

No, and I mentioned that it is quite close this time so your theory isn't to be completely dismissed, but, historically, from this point onwards, Wii does not decline faster than PS3 and, whilst it could happen this time, there is no reason for it to.
