Forums - Sony Discussion - Mass Effect 2 PS3 gets 8.5 from Gamespot

It will still end up a 90 on Metacritic.

Well, after I played Mass Effect 2 on the 360 that would be my score anyway. Maybe it would have been a bit higher.

So I don't see what's the problem. These guys gave Dragon Age origins on the PS3 a 9, on the PC a 9.5, and on the 360 a 8.5 simply because of graphical differences.

I would be just happy because PS3 got to experience this masterpiece instead of QQing about how in the other console that I don't care about got a better review.

Every review I have read said this is the better version. The only knock is that you lose some small things because of Mass Effect 1 comic is not a comprehensive as the game was.

The reviews I've read (1up, Gamespot, Gamesradar) say while there are some advantages (namely the extra content) that it is not the "definitive" version they were looking for.  In fact, the only review I have seen that said it was the clearly better version was IGN.

BUT, does that really matter?  I mean you are getting a stellar game with a ton of extra content on your console of choice.  Why does it HAVE TO BE the better version?

I love my 360 so dont imply im some rapid fanboy and their are sites I consider the PS3 leaning but Gamespot will often score PS3 games considerable lower than the 360 counterparts compared to most other websites.

Tha Gamespot review clearly hinted that the game was inferior to its 360 counterpart despite all others agreeing it was superior (as a one year old game should be upon release)

Well, gamespot is not biased, it gave the 2008 goty to MGS 4, 2009 goty to Demon's Souls and 2010 they didn't give the goty to Mass effect 2, which leads me to think that they didn't really think of ME 2 being all that great.

As someone who has played through Mass Effect 2 multiple times on PC -- it's about an 8.5 game. Anything higher is probably overrating it.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

The comic for Mass Effect 1's story, cannot possibly make up for the lack of being able to play through the first Mass Effect, and carry over your character.  No amount of new content and graphics can get you to convince me that they trade off and should be rated the same.  I think Gamespot is being reasonable in their scoring.  They value that kind of thing, and many other gamers will too.

If you think they're worth the same score, or PS3 being rated higher, that's you.  I still think not being able to carry over your character, stinks.

^And that you can't use your save from ME that made ME2 an even greater experience and that the game is already an year old..

While I agree with your point, the reviewer shouldnt say the PS3 version is the better version then.

Edit: looks like the reviewer didnt even said this anyway, I was mistaken by cmeese post.
