Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mass Effect Interactive Comic for PS3 is fail.

it sounds like they just made up some bs to fit what happens in ME2 to just make PS3 users think they understand what happened in ME1. What a load of crap. They learn nothing from this at all other than the main character's name.

Just buy the PC version (many say better than the 360 version anyway) of Mass Effect.  It's $20 at most, and you can spend a good 45 hours on each playthru.  To recap that even in a 3 hour movie would be difficult, nevermind the medium they chose.  Plus, ME1 is in my opinion, the best story for any video game ever.  It's truely epic.

BOOM!  FACE KICK!

Its pretty much what I expected. Personally I like it and nobody expected to be as good as playing the original game. Sequels tend to jump consoles so I'd like to see this kind of stuff more often.

Some of you might remember Shenmue 2 on the Xbox came with a DVD called Shenmue the Movie. It was basically a play through of the original game but it just showed scenes pivotal to the story. It would have been great if they did that using footage of the PC game, but maybe MS has rights to the original game.

It was £5 the other week on Steam....

But am I the only one here who would rather watch that comic and go straight into ME 2 than play ME 1. It is mostly the inventory system, but also the unwieldy combat, and after finishing the game 3 times (I think...) the story doesn't have that much draw

Maybe they have left out the story segments that won't have any effect on mass effect 3?

This is for people who haven't played the first game. A few minor details altered and irrelevant events left out isn't going to hurt anyone. And my memory of ME1 might be a little hazy, but if Tali isn't a fugitive why is she about to be arrested when you first meet her?

@OkeyDokey

You're mind is really hazy because she wasn't being arrested. She had footage that Saren didn't want getting out, so she went to the Shadow Broker for protection and was almost caught by a traitor before you save her.

Playing ME is better, but looking at that it doesn't seem too bad.  It's clearly looking to minimize time to play while squeezing in the main elements to set up ME2.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Bioware said the PS3 version would be the definitive version. Obviously it's the 360/PC versions that are non-cannon.

Anyhoo, this is my theory: MS is the publisher of ME1, therefore MS has some rights to the ME1 story as well as the game. In negotiating ME2 port to PS3 EA had to agree to change or omit parts of ME1 from the interactive comic so that there were material differences from the ME1 story. Or EA's lawyers told EA that if they had exactly the same story for the interactive comic then MS might try to sue, hence they figured out how much they needed to change to make it hard for MS to throw a wobbly and sue. End result: fanboys crying about changes, EA minimises the chance of litigation.

For me it matters not, as I've not experienced ME1 so the interactive comic that comes with ME2 will be the story I know.

My god....how can one person be so stupid and ignorant, i mean WOW! you sir are a fool, how does a peasant 10-15 minute rolling comic book on ps3 cancel out the 360/pc mass effect 'canon', in your words. both are 20 plus hour games with something like 600 of your choices carrying over to mass effect 2 if you opt too.MASS EFFECT HAS NO CANON, WE CREATE IT. Only when mass effect 3 comes out might you realise what i mean and repent your slimy ways, but until then fool, keep on living in your ignorant bliss. Im putting money down that your going to buy the original after your done with 3 and then on whatever format you play on, your going to buy 2 and 3 again and with a smile, so in the end im laughing at you as is everybody who ever played mass effect.
