Forums - Sony Discussion - Why PS3 games sales is doing much better in Europe.?

I am not an owner of any console and the i was just wandering around and i found this site with some pretty interesting discussion and above all very impressive statistics. (i just wish they add few more options in manipulating the data for extracting statistics).

Anyway leaving aside from different discussions i found that if not all most of the games especially exculsives for PS3 bombed in American launch but they r doing very good in Europe... as in some other discussion someone said that European Attach rate for PS3 is much better than American... especially games like Heavely Sword...

So wot could be the reason.

May be its due to the bundling effect but still i find that in europe games are finding more legs to continue...

So there r two questions on this

Firstly wot do u think are the prime reason for this.

1. Better publicity by Sony

2. More people buying the console for gaming in europe and more people buying it as primary blu-ray player in america.

3. American people have become a little strict in spending on games.

4. Better quality advertisement by Sony.

5. or some other factor...

and my second question is may be i should create a new thread for it... but anyway for the time being let have it here...

Should Sony concentrate Europe as their primary hub for launching titles and PS3 related stuff.. ?

1. I mean suppose they have launched Heavenly sword first in europe then in america then may be more sales in europe could have triggered somewhat better sales in America? it sound like a foolish idea but may be its not that bad.

2. atleast some good numbers in europe could have given them less criticism in american media

or

3. it could have atleast given developers a lot more hope and reason to stick with the console.

I m not a fanboy neither i have any console, so just got a little curious wandering on this site, so it can be highly possible that all my queries r on wrong assumption or on lack of knowledge.

so i will appreciate if it can be kept flame free...

that idea of launching game in europe first doesnt sound half bad, except for the fact that im in canada and we get games about the same time as us so that would suck for me.

The biggest reason : The Name

No its because europeans have more money than typical americans.

I think its because the FUD campaign against the PS3 is mostly an american thing and the Playstation brand keeps its prestige intact in europe...except maybe in UK where many gamers follow US media. many people were expecting to make the jump to the next gen and the PS3 has a varied catalogue of games. The games are expensive though,65-70 for game is some 100 dollars for game...we are getting robbed by all companies...

The reason is that MS only cares for the USA market, so all of the games are either FPS, shooters, action games, western RPGs and racing games; and with these image games with japanese and european appeal like Viva Piñata and Blue Dragon just bomb.
PS3 games are more varied; the only way the PS3 could fail in Europe is that MS moneyhats Konami so WE is a 360 exclusive.
That's the reason why the 360 will inevitably end 3rd place this generation of consoles.

Noobie, all your suggested reasons are incorrect. Brand name is one reason, the other is PAL regions are far more dominated by casual gamers than the US which is why the PS1 and PS2 done so well in the regions.

Most of the people buying PS3's right now are not casual gamers, 400$+ for a console is too expensive for casual gamers.

well the ps3 has got less titles so every one is buying these couples of games that are on the charts
