Well, not really. NPD doesn't track every retailer including Wal-Mart in the US. So it obviously the numbers are definitely higher then what NPD show. It always is, at least for the U.S. market. VGC needs to take that into account as well. It's most likely over 2 million I think.

I can't assure you this, but they probably don't just add up the sales they get from their polls. Their numbers are estimates after all so they probably just guess how much WM sold despite lack of data since they present their data not as combined sales of x retailers in America, but as sales in America.

Sales of Nintendo's Wii, however, suffered a 38% dive to just 2.36 million units in December, down from 3.81 million a year earlier. Sony's PS3 also declined, albeit less precipitously. It sold 1.21 million PS3s in December, down 11% from 1.36 million.
