It will remain flat or inch slowly in the PS3's favour this year imo. Nothing earth shattering at any rate.

now ya'll gonna say thats just shipments but at the end of the day, the day sony announces there shipments are higher than MS than thats the day when all on the internet will say "ps3 passed 360" not when VGC shows it

Before that the predictions are nonsense.
The gap will grow to 10m (Kinect price cut of U$ 50).
2 years that xbox got the lest price cut, it only came down U$ 100 (U$ 50 U$ 50) , Ps3 got price cut of U$ 300 till now, xbox price cut will have more effect.
Kinect will have the big momentum in 2011.
PS3's only hope, funny enough, is in being hacked. It did wonders for PSP hardware sales.
You know I am actually kinda hoping that those shipment numbers won't be that far off the VGC numbers(Given reasonable amount on shelves etc). Maybe then all this talk of undertracked, adjustments, wait for shipments will finally be put to rest. Oh well, here is to hoping, chances are they will have a large shipment figure, to an increasing amount of developing countries in SA and Asia, then this crap will carry on into the next year too.

I don't see the gap closing to be honest, Kinect has raised the base demand of the 360 so therefore it'll respond proportionally higher to the same percentage price cut. The margin will therefore either stay the same or increase in the Xbox 360s favour.
Tease.
I don't see the gap stretching in the range of 6.5 - 7 Million mark by years end. I predict the 360 outselling the PS3 in 2011 by 500,000.
Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

The pattern we now have will remain until something changes. PS3 will beat 360 in EMEAA and Japan and 360 will beat PS3 in US and UK. In tonights NPD i think we will get a better indicator of the PS3's future there for the year. I think in EMEAA sooner rather then later 360 will get a price cut. It has been what three years now since the last proper one? The PS3 will need a price cut in US or it will just continue to fade away. The question becomes how much and can Sony afford it? Their last financial results were not exactly outstanding. Would they be in a hurry to go back to making a loss on the PS3? I doubt it.
I expect 360 to be up yoy slightly and PS3 down yoy. Meaning the gap will have increased but not by much, 500k max i'd guess.
I think it really all boils down to Kinect and how hard they want to push it. If it looks to be losing steam they will re-bundle it and maybe price cut it. I think 2011 is Microsofts year to lose pretty much.
