Prediction: PSP2 to have Mini-BLU RAY

Sony have said in the past that they sell in countries where digital distribution is not possible and even in developed countries, usage caps and low speeds create problems.Kaz Hirai said that till 2020 it won't be possible to go completely digital.

Blu-ray is already a succesfull format and has been in use for some time so it will be cheap to produce.Sony will not use card format as they have recently given up forcing their own format,Memory Stick on their devices. And flash drives are expensive so leave that out of the window.

Also Blu-ray has cost Sony around $7 billion in PS3 losses. To make blu-ray even cheaper and spread the format further, they could include in in the PSP2.It will help Blu-ray immensely as formats actually start becoming popular after around 5 years when they are cheap. The same happened with DVD when PS2 helped it become the format to watch movies on.

Recent reports suggested that PSP2 will rival PS3 graphics and has as much ram as the 360.It was also reported that Sony wants people to take their PS3 games on the go with PSP2.Having Blu-ray will be the key as size is a major factor for PS3 games.

A mini blu-ray and PSP2 will be the perfect combition as it will provide adequate space for devs to push the limits of the amazingly powered PSP2 as rumoured and deliver it at low cost.It could also be used for movies and other media

Everything we've heard about the PSP2 so far implies they're switching to a cartridge solution, probably based on Sony's ProDUO technology.

Do you want a $400 dollar PSP2?  Blu ray players aren't cheap and making a smaller one would be pretty costly.  I guess Sony could tell us to just get a part time job to pay for it.

What would having a mini blu-ray do?  It's not like you could play your PS3 games or watch your blu ray movies on a mini bluray player. The only benefit would maybe being able to play your PSP2 games on your PS3. But isn't that already possible through a link or something? Seems pretty pointless.

Nah man.

There are various rumors indicating that Sony will use either an SD Card system or a Custom Card System for the PSP2 and completely ditch a disc drive due to battery reasons, UMD failures, etc.

What everyone else said, no way in hell is that going to happen.

They didn't lose enough money putting Bluray in PS3?

I just can't see it happening.

Pretty much this. Why put mini blue ray as you won't be able to use PS3/Film blue ray? Also, then you will have long loading times and short battery life, everybody knows these are a great thing for a system to play on the go...

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

where is the "only if SONY want the PSP2 to fail" option?

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

I agree with everybody that said they will use some for of flash memory. there is no way SONY will use MINI Blu-Ray unless they wont the PSP2 to be DOA.
