Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 3DS to use friend codes

i am not saying that the wii did bad, i think it has done better than all the other consoles in the market, but that doesnt mean that they shouldnt do something that should have been done long ago. You know i had a wii and bought brawl and mario kart with the intention to play online... i sold it 2 months after because it was so broken that i just bought a ps3 and a 360 and i game there, because i can play online..

So i think they should do it because they will attract more customers like myself that will think twice before buying something of them..

and i think i am not the only one..

I'm still anticipating that the 3DS (and next home console) will have a Mii based friend-code system; and I personally don’t see this as a significant problem. Hypothetically speaking, Nintendo could eliminate most of the negatives associated with this if they were able to integrate their system with a social networking system like Facebook.

@4lc0h0l  your not the only one, i stopped playing Brawl years ago cause the online was so bad. A fighting game with no decent online is about useless to me in this day and age

@mr. khan  so i guess to hell with the millions of other gamers who do want to game online then??? Im not saying that the online has to be of LIVE caliber, but there is no excuse for it to suck that badly. Not after so long

I agree, but i'm saying look at it from Nintendo's perspective. While it is certainly foolish of them to miss an opportunity to grow their market with a strong online network, they have not been negatively impacted by their online system. Now this also presumes that Nintendo is thinking in a void and not seeing what the competition is doing, but void thinking has really been Nintendo's psychology this whole generation

Now i'm not particularly miffed about this, because unless its an MMO (or MMO-esque like Monster Hunter), i don't care about playing with friends online. When it comes to versus multiplayer, i'm satisfied kicking it with randoms, but i understand that there are a great many gamers that do care very much for it

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Of course this also probably means no account system like PSN/XBL/steam etc and any DLC games you buy are stuck on that 3DS and never on a different 3DS, so if you ever wanna buy a new 3DS model or if it breaks or something....you lose them all.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! This is patently false! If you call Nintendo's consumer service if your product breaks they will fix it or transfer over your content if they need to replace it. I'm sorry, but I hear this all the time and it's consistently wrong. If you call Nintendo instead of willy-nilly buying a brand new machine, they will always take care of you. Period.

@rolstoppable  then people wonder why some "hardcore gamers" are not to enthusided about Ninty in general

Well, "hardcore gamers" slapped Nintendo in the face years ago with the Gamecube. What goes around comes around.

Anyways, we've heard nothing about the online at all except for one game. I'll wait for next week's announcement for a final judgement.

Don't buy a 3DS!  No friend codes....

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

With this and it's likely high price, what is Nintendo thinking? It seems they're trying to make it do horribly, but despite it, it'll still sell gangbusters.
