Wonder what numbers Vgchartz will take MEdia creat or famitsu? or do they calculate the average between them 2? DS back on top! and nice hold for wii.

...if I had to guess, I'd say MC's super low PSP figure this week means they likely overtracked last week and are now normalizing the sales.  Fami probably won't be so low this week, probably more around 50-60k.  the JP trackers tend to do "adjustments" in the next week sales rather than going back and changing previous figures.

The PSP is sold out EVERYWHERE I've been to. I'm surprised that it sold so much actually considering that I haven't seen a NEW PSP anywhere. Hell I haven't seen any USED PSP's for sale either! Sony definitely underestimated the demand for the system coming off the heels of the MHP3 launch.

Huge drop for PSP.

But at least PS3 starts a year with a win :D

Yeah that's because of the shortages

Of course all its because of the shortages, especially if Sony wins.

It's been that way since mid December though... unless Sony's weekly shipments suddenly went from 100k to 30k this week, I don't see how that would in any way change what I said above?  We'll see with Famitsu's number for this week...

I could easily find a PSP all throughout Dec. It's only been since about when the new year began that I've seen the PSP sold out everywhere.

There are literally no PSP's to be found.

How the hell the PS3 selling more consoles than the Wii when it's not selling any software. This just doesnt add up.

Remember, it'll sell 5M with no software. I believed it, you don't?

And the other one is worse, selling 11 millions despite passing most of the year in a closet collecting dust.

People keep their Wiis in the closets, forget they own one and buy it again. Can't you see?

Sellouts started in mid december according to the JP retail blogs and groups (Azalyn, Sinobi, YSO, COMG, etc), and anecodtal reports on GAF said pretty much the same.  I think it's very likely that'd vary regionally (and perhaps you're simply in a different area?), but there are definitely reported sellouts predating the new year.  PSP's been red hot since MHP3 hit market, much moreso than Sony anticipated.

Adhoc Party & Torne.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

I have to agree. And I feel so vindicated now. I had a feeling almost from the day that it was announced that Torne would play a major role for PS3 in Japan. Its multi-media capabilities really do give it an edge.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Nintendomination!

Only numbers for Pokemon though, but that's my main interest anyway. It should stabilize at somewhere in the 25k range in a week or two and then stay there till the 3DS bump, which should send it up to like 50k, after which it should start declining at a 2k-5k/week range and then stall at the 10-15k range till it hits 6.2m or so, before dropping to near insignificant amounts per week and ending up somewhere between 6.25m and 6.5m.

Absolutly... oh wait, even with PSP shortages, MHP3 is #1.

I'm not sure why they are related... people can't buy MHP3 without buying PSP?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
