Forums - Sales Discussion - The DS family should be tracked seperately

I actually kind of agree with you, except I think that all Slim revisions and the like should be separated as well (WII IS TEH BEST EVAR!!!!!!!111!!!).

Honestly, though, there's no real point in separating the bases -- what matters is that there is a 145m base to buy DS games with. You could argue that rebuys contaminate the numbers, but PS2 owns DS in that sector.

I don't think we should really do that, although it would be interesting to see which models are selling the most.

What we SHOULD campaign for, is getting Pokemon games seperated.

Why would you do that? It would only give Nintendo more entries in the list of bestselling games of all time. Sure, some of the games you prefer would move up a slot or two, but on the flipside the vast majority of your favorites would move down several ranks, so the net gain would be negative.

I suspect it's to put Monster Hunter Portable series above Pokemon.

NSMB would still be #1 anyways.

I agree... but it just a pity agree.. >_>

If we separate down by SKU though, then wouldn't the budget rereleases of MHP also be separated?

So what you are really arguing for is that the Wii should be the undisputed sales leader of any gaming console in all of history?

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that how Famitsu and Media Create do it?  List "the BEST" versions seperately?  I know we don't do it on VGC.

HAhahahahaha this was a great read. People are destroyin' some arguments in here...

I must admit, I am a little curious to see sales figures regarding the different models a console has.  It would be pretty neat to see how many units of the PS2 Slim sold, or the PSP 2000.  But I don't think we should track every model separately as a determinant for which console or handheld sold the most units; that just doesn't seem right.

I think so. However, the SKU with Wii Sport bundled should be counted as a different SKU as SKUs with no game bundled (in Japan) or bundled with other games.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Yeah, I don't get why DS and DSi are counted as one. Isn't DSi with a better(twice?) processor and more(8 times?) ram?

How it is with wii and gamecube? Twice as powerful processor and twice as much ram?
