Forums - Sales Discussion - The DS family should be tracked seperately

They even raised the clock speed of the slim PS2. Should that be counted seperately since not many other consoles have had that? They also bundled it with a new controller, the Eyetoy. So if the Wii is a new console based off the Gamecube then surely the PS2 slim was, especially the SKU with Eyetoy.

The PSP just barely won a year in Japan for 2010, can't expect folks to just be content with a hollow victory and not get greedy.

I say that because the utter lack of PSP consideration in that OP makes me suspect said ulterior motives...

PSP would have be divided by his standards: the 1000 only has 32MB RAM while the 2000/3000 have 64MB.  The Go is also incompatible with UMDs, meaning software incompatibility between lines.  The 3000 has a built in camera, while the Go is incompatible with any games using any camera/GPS add ons.

Of course, PS3, 360 and even older systems like GBA and PS2 have various compatibility issues and spec differences between models anyway.  The entire thrust of the OP is a real non-starter when you actually start to look at any of these systems, DS isn't being held to any different standard already.

If we were to seperate PSP and Go's sales and all the DS's sales, it would look a lot better for PSP. I assume there are only 3000 and go selling right now? For this year alone DS in japan wouldn't be nearly as close.

So i guess we see the real motives, underbought systems (compared to others)

I don't think we should really do that, although it would be interesting to see which models are selling the most.

What we SHOULD campaign for, is getting Pokemon games seperated.

What's really funny is that the OP states we should separate the DS models including the 3DS as though that's not done already.  He's posting as if the world associates the 3DS as just the next in the lineup of DS models and not a whole new console.

Are we simply witnessing a Rol style thread here or is the OP serious?

Black and white is really the biggest argument for that and still, not much there.

I dunno if it actually would look better for PSP overall to be honest.  PSP1000, 2000, 3000 and Go vs DS, Lite, DSi and XL?  The Lite alone has possibly outsold the entire PSP line combined, and I doubt if any lone PSP model has beat any of the DS models except maybe XL. :/

I meant for Japan this year.

First, it's obvious that you're only starting this because you're jealous of the DS numbers, for whatever reason. The difference between DS, DSlite, DSi and DSiXL is nil, when it comes to the games. Apart from a handful of downloadable minigames, every single DS cartridge plays in every DS iteration, and exactly the same too. And, man, you are fully aware of that.

Second, I don't think that many people own "each and every single one of them", why on earth should they be that dumb? I don't personally know anybody who owns more than one. Yeah, there will be some, but then there will be some who replaced their PS2 phat with a PS2 slim or their 360 fat by a 360 slim and so on.

You post is annoying because you are being hypocritical. You pretend not to know which iterations DS has had ("and maybe a couple models in between that i missed."), and you pretend not to be aware that the 3DS is a completely new system. If you don't even care enough for the DS to look up the facts, why start a thread about it?
