Forums - Gaming Discussion - What woudl be the next iteration of the Wiimote?

Assuming the Wii wins, this generation, what do you think will Nintendo do with the Wiimote for Biiggii Wii? While w'ere at it, what do you think will Microsoft's and Sony's Wiimote gonna be?

I'm hoping for two versions of Nintendo's Wiimotes for Biigii Wii, personally. I can see them making a more streamlined, ergonomic and curvier version of the current Wiimote, and a second but similar curvy, streamlined, ergonomic design with an analog stick instead of the A button on top. Both will not be tethered by wires. The analog stick Wiimote will function as the current nunchuck but with pointer functionality. I could also see them further refining the effinciency to boot, pretty much only needing one AAA battery each.

As for Microsoft and Sony's waggle wands, I could see the former doing a sixaxis like controller but wouldnt be surprised if they outright copy Nintendo and go all out. But I expect them to stay true to tradtional controlers more than anyone else since they focus on the hardcores more.

Sony will most certainly copy Nintendo and I could see them coming out with a similar wand-like interface.

Here's my guess (made with Paint in 5 min):

Realtime rendered 3D holographs and you can interact with them via the Wiimote. This could be the next step and it should be pretty easy to realize it (3D glasses)...

And they suck at it."

Probably just an improved version of the current Wiimote. More accurate, more sensitive - easier to map 1-1 motion to it.

How about a small "touchpad" in the place of the A button? So you could do mouse rolls, or flicks with your finger? Or an "iPhone" styled Wiimote? No physical buttons (maybe an under trigger), just pressure sensitive.

Better speaker, maybe more memory.

Whatever happens, it will almost certainly support the current Wiimote (most games would anyway).

...

Or even better... the next DS becomes a Wiimote, with holographic projection from it. Play games on your Wiimote, or use it to control the Wii.

How about a portable Wii as the next DS?

Anyone else impressed by the increased Wii-mote functionability in the updated opera browser?

im thinking NO on the touch pad. thats not a good idea. there is no texture to buttons on a touch screen. plus thats the DS's thing.  I dont know how the speaker can be improved, but adding a microphone could be a great idea. I thing every game needs to start doing what zelda TP does. They need to have you set up everything so its more responsive to the Wiimote.

Send me a private message on how to get that. I've been twiddling with my Wii so I can laugh at home much is sucks some more. Just to make sure it sucks still... ya'know. Make sure nothing changed.

I feel the next Wiimote will be more like 2 nunchucks, both 100% wireless.

I think that the next microsoft controller is accurate.

However I think the next sony controller, will most likely continue the current theory. Quite possibly a Wiimote theory one for added functionality. (quite possible to come for the PS3) Like the Classic controller. Just a diffrent controller, you 'can' buy, and only a few games support it.

Can't wait to get home and have a play with it, sounds great :)

I wonder if the BIOS update has actually improved the Wiimote drivers (if such a thing exists...) - if not, hoping for updates to the other channels (i.e. improved Wiimote handling) sometime.
