Forums - Sales Discussion - XBOX360 and Wii sales to date Australia

http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/841/841520p3.html

Quoting Article:

"Xbox 360 hit 300,000 units sold in Australia and New Zealand, doing so in 20 months which is pretty impressive. Still, to put that figure in perspective Nintendo Australia told us today that as of December 9, the company has sold 251,101 Nintendo Wiis in Australia alone. That's over 250,000 units in Australia in one year. Eeeshk!"

I am suprised no Aussie has posted this, so I finally got around to it.

Not bad Wii figures for Aus in 1 year. Considering Gamecube sold 150,000 in its whole life. XBOX360 are Aus and NZ numbers so hard to say how many in Aus. My guess would be around 230,000-270,000 (all depends on NZ which i don't have a clue on console sales there).

Nice find. 360 passed 250,000 2 weeks prior to Wii passing 250,000, so Wii must be getting really close to 360 LTD now. Expect a press release from Nintendo Australia when that milestone occurs. We'll get Q4 and LTD sales from GfK in January too.

I don't think Xbox360 sold 50k in two weeks, even though it is approaching Christmas.

Still a very impressive turnaround for the Wii here. Given Nintendo of Australia's arse-reaming of the entire continent, I'm not sure they deserve it. The Wii is doing extremely well especially considering the Xbox360 Arcade is actually the same price here =)

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I brought a 360 today for work *cough* *cough*. I have it home for 3 weeks. I must say I'm so glad I'm a ps3 fan. It's is crap. I don't like the huge ass power supply, Blades desktop is ok, controller is ok - except the d pad. I prefer the ps3 gfx by far and the overall set up and design.

I will play some 360 games like GoW, Bio-shock and maybe mass effect. I will also borrow it for Lost Odyssey. I would never buy a 360, thank god. It was either a wii or 360... Wii sold out so I got 360 :(

I feel bad I had contributed to the 360 sales :(

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

So you wont buy a 360 cos it's power supply is too big? does anyone think about games anymore when they buy a console? Sheesh

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

wow so wii might have passed 360 in australia by now(not including new zealand)

@enduracne: Nope, New Zealand sales are rather small. PS3 sold 15,172 units LTD. Not excally sure about Wii but since March 23rd it sold less than PS3 and it also sold less in November. So it's not much more than 15k and probably even below.

360 > PS3 easily in my opinion. 360 is fairly high on my shopping list (primarily due to games - 360 has maybe 10 I want to play, and PS3 has 1 - maybe 2).

I can buy a 360 (premium) + 4 games for $580 - or a PS3, with no PS2 support and a 20 gig hard disk, and no games - for around $700.

I will probably pick up a 360 for "work" sometime into the new year...
