Microsoft has changed direction to cover a wider audience. Rare appears to be the developer charged with spearheading that new focus.

They haven't fallen, they're just on a a different ledge.

And thus, the Xbox 360, Microsoft, every game released on it and every entity to ever work on them has been RUINED FOREVER.

....

Haven't I heard this somewhere before?

Where did I say it has been ruined forever. Notice I said wider audience not different audience. Its a smart business decision to appeal to the "hardcore" and the "casual" and Rare is at the head of M$ "casual". Nothing has been lost on the XBOX platform yet much has been gained.

Erm...

That was kind of the whole point. You know, like Nintendo being doomed for the past four-five years because of supporting motion controls etc.

You may want to check your sarcasm radar, see if it still works. :p

Rare is still an existing stuido and it employs many people who make games that are played around the world.

And when some of you grow up you will understand what faliure is...

I am offended by what I assume you are insinuating, although I am easily offended. As for Rare, yes they still exist, but pale in comparison to their former self. Do not see how any of their modern games can even compare to the DKC series and Goldeneye.

Lol, sorry. Hard to tell on this site sometimes when some actually genuinely believe that.

I think Kinect Sports has a chance to become the best selling RARE game of all time! Still full price and over 2 million copies sold already!

I prefer the new RARE than old RARE, Viva Piata>>>>Everything they did with their old partner.

They really should just change thier name. They are nothing like they used to be. Its a much different company now. I think it just hurts them.

I greatly disagree, but feel free to be entitled to your own opinions.

Rare?  More like WELL DONE!  Because Rare is done!  Get it? Cause when you order a steak, you can have it cooked.......

I'm sorry.

Fallen, certainly, but few developers have survived since even that period of time unchanged. Only Nintendo has really endured in a recognizable form from that point. I mean, Squaresoft of old is lamented, Enix is gone, Midway is gone, Sega is unrecognizable, as is Namco. Naughty Dog went from stuff like Crash Bandicoot to Uncharted (though both have been pivotal for their platform), Bungie was irrelevant back then, Infinity Ward nonexistant, Activision a very different company

EA i suppose has also lived from that time unchanged, but the point is that outside EA and Nintendo, no-one is really doing the same thing they were in the late 90's, though that's been a positive change for some, and strictly a change for others (Naughty Dog, doing just as well with Drake as with Crash, but it's definitely different)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

One of my original reasons to get a 360 back in 05 was the support of Rare. They were my favorite developer after Nintendo back in the late SNES - N64 days. So it saddens me to see that they are now only a shadow of their former self. They are Rare only in name now. I did enjoy Kameo, though I felt it was a bit short. I also bought PDZ which was pretty dissapointing.

To see them go from masterpieces like DKC and Goldeneye to... Kinect Sports is a tragedy. But thankfully, these two best games mentioned are now on the Wii anyway.
