Forums - Gaming Discussion - Long single-player games this generation (40+ hours)

I was wondering what were the long single-player games this generation for home consoles excluding hand-held consoles. Basically, I just want to count games with a single-player campaign that lasts longer than 40 hours.

Just as an example, I've probably played more than 300 hours of Smash Bros. But since it's single player campaign lasts only around 10 hours, I wouldn't count it. Also, please don't count the time needed to get achievements as that is not part of a campaign. Same thing goes for smash bros as I still don't have all achievements for it, but single player is still 10 hours long. Also, don't count multiple play through the game. For example, I've finished NSMBWii twice and one of them was with 5 stars (once with my brother and another with my girlfriend). But I think I only got more than 40 hours by adding both times I played it. No sports or racing games also guys.

I'll start things off with my list. Most of the games are for the Wii as that is the only home console I have.

Wii:

1) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

2) Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

3) Okami

4) Monster Hunter Tri

5) Rune Factory: Frontier

6) Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

7) Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love

8) Godfather: Blackhand Edition

9) Bully

Multi-HD:

1) The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

2) Dragon Age

3) Final Fantasy XIII

4) FallOut 3

5) Nier

6) Resonance of Fate

7) Star Ocean: The Last Hope

8) Red Dead Redemption

9) Grand Theft Auto 4

X360:

1) Lost Odyssey

2) The Last Remnant

3) Blue Dragon

PS3:

1) Yakuza 3

2) Demon's Souls

I think Lost Odyssey takes 40 hours, Dragon Age would probably take that long too, but I generally finish games quickly, I don't like 40 hours games most of the time

What consoles are they for?

360 for Lost Odyssey, PS3 360 and PC for Dragon Age Origins

Final Fantasy XIII is easily 60 hours ^^

Edit: Well technically the Xbox version is 3 games that are 20 hours each ;) Loool i jk xD

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3

The Galaxy games might feel like it but they don't clock in anywhere close to 40 hours. No 3D Mario does, not even for full completion.

I'll delete them then. I just thought I spent that long.

I think The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion fits on your category. It's available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The Super Mario Galaxys don't take THAT much time to finish. I remember I finished SMG2 100% in around 20 hours.

Also, you should add Fallout 3 to that list.

Yakuza 3 (PS3)

Yakuza 4 (PS3, released only in Japan, releases in March this year in the rest of the world)

Ryu Ga Gotoku: Kenzan (PS3, released only in Japan)

Nier (PS3-Xbox 360)

Resonance of Fate (PS3-Xbox 360)

White Knight Chronicles (PS3)

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International (PS3)

Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Xbox 360)

Demon's Souls (PS3)

I don't know, there are a lot of games xD
