Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will 3rd parties put more effort into Wii 2011?

This question can be aligned with when the respective consoles or the PC are d0med, when the PS3's savior game comes along and when the Wii crosses 50% marketshare; it is said every year but it won't happen.

The very premise of the thread is laughable.  The industry's basically done everything in it's power to make Wii "go away" it's entire lifecycle, what on earth could provoke any sudden change in philosophy now?

Western 3rd parties will continue the HD support steamroller, no matter how many devs have to shutter their doors in the process, and the Japanese will start on deluging 3DS with stuff.  I don't really see much change from what we've had the past several years

The majority of developers who have croaked this gen were actually been making cheap handheld games for phones and the like.

But yes, things will remain the way they are right now and have been for some time.

No, not gonna happen. 3DS??? Ninty portables have always had good support, thats not going to change. THe consoles??? Another story, I think Melbye is right, when you buy a Ninty console your doing it for the Ninty games, if you bought it for the 3rd parties, you bought the wrong system. (ironically enough, ive had wii for about 3 years and only bought 2 Ninty games). 3rd parties will keep making family friendly games by the truck load and you might see a good 3rd party "core" game or two this year. Its allthe same

That's not actually the case.  The majority of layoffs, bankruptcies and studio closures this generation have had to do with multiplatform devs, and usually those focusing on 360/PS3/PC R&D.  I could start naming them if you'd like (GRIN, EA Chicago, Midway, Krome Studios, Pandemic Studio, Ensemble Studio, ACES Studio, Neversoft, Paradigm Entertainment, Secret Level, Sega Racing Studio, Bizarre Creations, Luxoflux, RedOctane, Helixe, Mass Media, Locomotive, Shaba Games, Realtime Worlds, Kush Games, PAM Deevelopment, Venom Games, Core Design, Iron Lore, Big Huge Games, Flagship, FASA, Stormfront, Bottlerocket, Free Radical, etc, etc)... hell, layoffs have become like annual clockwork for publishers like EA, Activision, etc.

No because 3rd party developers are stupid. I mean how else would you explain their lack of credible software on a platform that single-handedly saved console gaming. It boggles the mind at how stupid they are and I shed no tears when they report losses or close down studios because they only have themselves to blame. /rant

Things that need to die in 2016: Defeatist attitudes of Nintendo fans

Less for the Wii, but the 3DS should make up for that.

well will we see games like fallout or need for speed, mabey elder scrolls or any other big 3rd party game. i highly doubt it.

the wii games library is pretty much locked down on what will appear on wii and what wont.

if more aaa 3rd party games was on wii with similar grafix i would deffo use the wii more

How did Wii save anything other than Nintendo?

3rd parties are doing fine on Wii, they are aiming at the biggest wii demographic which does not happen to be you.

Did you see the last few years of sales, the market is pretty much dependent on the Wii, heck Kinect and Move only exist because of the Wii, take out the Wii, and the market would be dead
