Forums - Sony Discussion - First Custom Firmware for PS3 (3.55 based)

Here we go...

KaKaRoTo's Twitter

First CFW working. Grab http://bit.ly/hszcH3, then "./create_cfw.sh PS3UPDAT.355.PUP CFW.PUP". Permanently adds "install pkg files" menu. 38 minutes ago via web

@josuaarzensek custom firmware is what you want it to be, you run the script on 3.55 OFW and you get 3.55 CFW

Amidst all these hackings... why is a custom firmware necessary?  You don't need one to run un-signed code when all code can be signed now...

He earned my respect for not allowing piracy in his firmware.

Its a bit sad how Sony is at the mercy of its consumers' moral guidelines.

Even though we can now run our signed apps, how do you want to copy them onto the PS3? A CFW with a PKG installer seems to be the easiest solution.

@Neraid:

The CFW does not allow piracy directly, but somebody will code an ISO loader eventually. They're only missing one or two code lines in lv2. In fact, even the Jailbreak loaders would work if they would be slightly reprogrammed.

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Warning... CFW damaging PS3.

Don't update yet... and it's impossible go back to OFW.

seriously who would be so stupid to upgrade their precious PS3 to the first CFW that's available ?

"My SaveData is gone, same with trophies and data Utilities
