What should Retro do next?

Metroid 17 16.83%

Donkey Kong 17 16.83%

Other IP 29 28.71%

New IP 38 37.62%

Total:101

I would like one more DKC game, since they have already made all of the assets, just make new better levels (SMG2 style) with more animals to ride and the kremlings....after that I think they should make a new metroid or start a new IP.

FZero or StarWing

hopefully on an awesome new IP for the next gen Nintendo console.

That way they can pump out three in that generation Like Uncharted on PS3 will achieve.

Ok now for a serious post.

I'd love to hear some feedback on this one, just a thought I had the other day - Retro should make a new console Battalion Wars - maybe in cooperation with the original developer, Headstrong.

I remember Reggie commenting a while ago that this and Fire Emblem were both not realizing their potential in sales...

maybe Retro could do something about that...

Any thoughts?

No Battalion Wars fans in this thread?

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

mini-games on consoles, cinematic games on handhelds, what's next? GameBoy IMAX?

I voted for new IP, but then someone said 2D Zelda and I was sold.  Damn, that'd be awesome.  2D console Zelda.  It'd take the series back to its glory days.  I can only hope.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Didn't see this post. Battalion Wars needed fine tuning to begin with on the GameCube. Never played it's sequel though.

Only played the 2nd one on Wii, and while I loved the idea behind it, the more I thought about what needed fixing the more I felt the whole thing needed to be reworked and approached from a different angle in order to achieve it's potential... that's why I mentioned Retro.

Also, seeing Retro's AMAZING concept art for DKCR made me realize they should indeed be given their own franchise and the freedom to do anything they want! At first I wasn't big on the idea of insane levels of detail for no functional purpose, but after seeing these shots I think I'm in love

@forest-spirit, @mortono
whoa, never considered these, but damn great idea! i'm all for it!
and i completely agree with what all other said regarding 2D metroid like it was supposed to be played!

i thought retro is supposed to revive some classic franchises, first and foremost before they can freely develop their own games
i mean, nintendo still has a few that still needs to be revived like many mentioned - star fox, f-zero, and all, earthbound/mother, even ice climbers, among many others

i personally wouldn't mind seeing another wario game like in Super Mario Land 2, another Luigi game, or a collaboration with Game Freak and make a Pokémon RPG game on Wii...
i have a feeling nintendo might not let them develop a game of their own yet anyway unless all classic games are revived - well, maybe a WiiWare/DSWare game...
