Forums - Gaming Discussion - MONSTER HUNTER 4, where do you think it will go?

Capcom has been releasing Monster Hunter franchise in several platforms along the time. First, it was the PS2, then the portable versions for PSP, then it was Wii and even xbox360 and PC have got their spin off.

After hearing the rumour that Capcom may take Monster Hunter IP to a new system now that Nintendo 3DS is practically out, what do you think? Which console will be chosen by Capcom to release the next Monster Hunter 4? PS3, xbox360, Wii, 3DS, PSP? Multiplatform?

PSP2, he said the 3DS is even coming now, that means it's kind of the start of the next gen and not that it would be on 3DS. Expect this game to be a launch title of PSP2 or 2012 line up at least.

hmmm if 3ds sells very well , propably MH3 comes on this platform

(On Machina request take off from my sign..........)

MH4 will be on Wii 2 or PS3, whoever throws more "incentives" Capcom's way.  Probably Wii 2 given Iwata's personal interest in the franchise... seems like DQ and MH are the two 3rd party IPs Nintendo's really going for.

3DS will get MHP3G.  MHP4 could go to either 3DS or PSP2, but it probably depends on the sort of userbase each can grow beforehand.

Monster Hunter is a success on PSP because of the Adhoc networking, I am sure that without this it wouldn't be such a success. People like to hunt with friends. So unless 3DS has something better than Adhoc it'll be on PSP2. (of course, if PSP2 still has AD Hoc)

As for MH4 if it HAS to be on a console, then yea, either Wii 2 or PS3, depends on what they want to focus on.

Every handheld ever has had local multiplayer.  "Ad-hoc" is just referring to PSP's local wireless standard, that's something DS also has (and 3DS/PSP2 will as well).  And actually 3DS does have a better local wireless system than DS/PSP in place, it seeks out local networks automatically, even when the unit's "off".  This is how they're doing the system wide tag mode, as well as "pushed" content updates and downloads.

I think MHP3G may be the first handheld entry to add online modes though (MHP3 was originally planned to but they scrapped it).  If they want MH to continue growing outside Japan, that's what they need to do...

It finds networks when it is off? Surely you mean when it is in sleep mode. If not, then that is really interesting. As for monster hunter 4, probably the playstation 3 or wii/wii2. It would be interesting though, if Microsoft could convince them to release it on the 360.

I think MH4 will be released next generation on the Wii2 or the PS4. I don't think Capcom will release it on the next Microsoft console b/c I don't think it will sell well in Japan.

Nope, when it's "off" it's still seeking out networks, not just sleep mode.  It'll probably have an airplane mode though to turn that off.

I don't think MS has a chance in hell of getting MH4.  I do kinda think Capcom might release MHFO overseas though.
