Yeah, but the Xbox only plays some DVDs. I'd never want it for a DVD player.

Dude, its RRP is like $3000. Of course it'll be good for games!!!!

Like ShastaMasta said, you NEED component cables for the Wii. An HDMI cable for the Xbox360 as well (hint: HDMI is a digital signal, so don't buy the $300 cable that the Harvey Norman guy will try to push on you, just buy a short 1-3 metre length cheap one)

I've got a 720p, 42" plasma and everything looks amazing on that. Most people would consider that a crap gaming television, but they would be wrong.

Trust me, any name brand new generation LCD or plasma will be excellent for gaming. Just make sure you sit at least 2 metres away, otherwise it might seem pixellated for any non-1080 games you play (which is like all of them!!!)

Anyone who considers a good HD plasma as a poor gaming TV is misinformed.  Plain and simple.

In relation to what cable is better(HDMI or Component), the answer is neither.

The only advantage to HDMI is HDCP. I don't know about the US, but I did read somewhere that in japan enforcing HDCP will be illegal 'til 2012 at least.

Not interested in HD-DVD or Blu-Ray at the moment, they can wait till late next year.

DVD's are good enough for me.

Cheers, yeah just got it out of the box and set up... HD channels are amazing.. black hawk down is on at the moment, i got the surround sound set up... god its incredible. i have been missing out

I agree, he could use component cables for his Xbox 360 and it would look great (they're quite capable of doing 1080p). But the guy's got the 360, a Wii, a PS2, a DVD player probably........so I think 1 cable for video and audio is going to be a lot less clutter then 3 for video and an extra 1 or 2 for audio!!!

 Although now he's talking about a surround setup.....I think he knows what he's doing

BTW, saw blackhawk down as well, I forgot how many good actors were in that.



Prediction:

The PS2 & PS3 will outsell the Wii in 2008.

Lifetime sales of PS3 in Japan will be at least 8 million consoles.

Lucky! Seriously; my T.V. has a screen no bigger then 15". That would be so cool to just get a 42" T.V. for free.
