Forums - Gaming Discussion - Just brought a new TV, got some questions.

Hey guys, my tv finally arrived this morning, haven't even opened the box, it is a Hitachi LCD 42" Full High-Definition TV, i just have a few questions, the resolution is 1920x1080 - Does that mean 1080p?

Would this Tv be good for my games?, is there anything i need to buy?

Here is the link -

P.S i got this TV for free off a work Client, that's why i dont know alot about it.

Cheers, Jess.

Your link actually says "1080p" (did you read it?) so yes, that is 1080p.

Still, that TV looks awful for gaming.  You should just give it to me and get a good TV.  I'll suffer with that one.

So it isn't good for games? or you just yanking my chain :P?

Where did you bring it? (sorry, at least one person needed to say something like that)

Do you mean where did i get it? or am i missing something?

I got it off a client from work, she is getting married and going to move into her Fiance's house, its brand new hasn't been opened, she said she didn't know what to do with it, so she gave it to me - i did build her a Server for her workplace, so i guess thats why.

Dude, its RRP is like $3000. Of course it'll be good for games!!!!

Like ShastaMasta said, you NEED component cables for the Wii. An HDMI cable for the Xbox360 as well (hint: HDMI is a digital signal, so don't buy the $300 cable that the Harvey Norman guy will try to push on you, just buy a short 1-3 metre length cheap one)

I've got a 720p, 42" plasma and everything looks amazing on that. Most people would consider that a crap gaming television, but they would be wrong.

Trust me, any name brand new generation LCD or plasma will be excellent for gaming. Just make sure you sit at least 2 metres away, otherwise it might seem pixellated for any non-1080 games you play (which is like all of them!!!)

Prediction:

The PS2 & PS3 will outsell the Wii in 2008.

Lifetime sales of PS3 in Japan will be at least 8 million consoles.

Nice TV.

And the fact that she gave it to you reminds me of something similar but not similar at the same time. And yes that's possible because I said so.

My sister has a friend who's family owned a DVD player. Their family knew another family that wanted a DVD player. The other family had an Xbox and obviously didn't know it played DVDs, so the first family traded their DVD player for the Xbox because they knew it played them, along with games. Über pwnage.
