Forums - Sales Discussion - Is Sony gonna TV-advertise DC Universe or LBP2?

I don't understand this thing about LBP not being advertised. Maybe in the US, but here in the UK it was well advertised. Regular TV ads, and they spammed the cinemas with Sackboy commercials before every film.

Mass Effect 2 commercial during NFC championship game Saints-Vikings was the best video game commercial ever.  Big opening week but weak legs.

The first LittleBigPlanet sold 4 million on word of mouth with non-existent advertisements.  The 2nd game has massive potential.  A primetime commercial that shows off the graphics and power of LBP2 would be awesome of its sale.

DC Universe (which I think it's a great game) has lots of untapped potential with all the DC fanboys out there.

LBP did get advertisements

People need to understand that SONY has a ton of first party studios creating games all year round, ever single year. Microsoft does not. You can't expect all out advertising on 10 or so games a year to the extent that 2-4 XBox360 exclusives get.

It would just cost too much.

Word of mouth has been working just fine. 3-5Million in sales isn't required, regardless of what people here think.

It has been the same story since the days of the PS1. Tons of 1-3M sellers and the occasional 5-10M seller.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

ive already seen LBP 2 advertised in usa

I expect LBP2 to get some sort of advertising. I doubt that DC Universe will.

DC Universe isnt even exclusive

Being that Sony Online Entertainment has produced a series of awful MMO games that have (probably) lost a lot of money, if I was Sony I would wait until the game was released and established itself before I spent any money to market it heavily. While this is not a typical approach for most publishers, it would work with a MMO because a decent MMO game has a much longer life than the typical game does.

DCUO is less than 2 weeks away and LBP2 is about 3 weeks away.  DCUO, considering it's a new IP, isn't gonna have a big opening week, but commercials with Superman, Batman, and Joker would be phenomenal.

And how about LittleBigPlanet 2?  Again, LBP2 isn't the type of game that is gonna come out the gate fast and will likely sell like the first game with good legs, but how about some ads on American TV?

If these games were on xbox360, I would have already seen a Pepsi bottle with Lex Luther on it and ads on primetime big network (CBS, ABC, etc.).

I've seen some Killzone 3 ads on SpikeTV, but who watches SpikeTV?   I wish Sony would step up on the promotion.

Bold : So true, Sony even has that partnership with Coca-Cola, they should have found a way to work that kind of advertisement with them.

LBP2 - yes, but poorly.

DCUO - no.

I think they should advertise DC universe more because i think LBP2 can survive with little advertisement
