Eyetoy is nothing like Kinect.

  • The Eyetoy is much simpler than the Kinect
  • The Eyetoy does not have the ability to perceive depth while Kinect does
  • The Eyetoy does not have noise suppression voice location  while the Kinect does
  • The Eyetoy cannot recognize voices while the Kinect can
  • The Eyetoy is pretty much fixed while the Kinect moves to track

  • It doesn't change the fact that Kinect is evolutionary technology.

To innovate is to do something nobody has ever done before, down to the fundamentals. Kinect doesn't do that. I'm not trying to downplay Kinect when I say this, as the Kinect hacks are pretty damn impressive, but Kinect isn't innovative, especially to the point of calling Microsoft the most innovative company. It's called a refinement.

Just like Gears of War. It built refined the cover system concept from kill.switch and this other game, I forgot its name.

Or like LBP...or Heavy Rain (which is a hybrid between Dragon's Lair and point and click adventure games on the PC).

    Pretty much this.

    Kinect is not innovative.

It's not trolling, it's not bias, it's the truth.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

    Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

    Sugu yoko de waratteita

    Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

    I will never leave you

Innovative, maybe, most innovative certainly not. Havent tried Windows Mobile so I will leave that open, but Windows OS is quite meh, Zune?, Internet Explorer?

And about Kinect I agree with huaxiong90.I wonder if they would have developed it, if the X360 was in the lead instead of the Wii.

With that said, people aren't giving Microsoft enough credit, as Microsoft actually scrapped the earlier depth sensor device in favor of a cheaper device from PrimeSense (I think), and it's the software that Microsoft developed for it which does most of the work.

I agree with your definition "innovate", although it can be used in reference to bettering a prexisting technology, etc., but in the way I assume they are using the word "innovate", they are wrong.

Microsoft never made 3D space cameras first. The idea for kinect was offered to Sony and they turned it down. Sony was right to overlook it because they realized after the failure that was the original eye toy that unless you have full control in a 3D space without a controller the possibilities of genres with depth is extremely hard. People are going to be pulling their hair out to create core titles for the kinect or even some games that the Wii offers with motion sensing.

they were not the first and they just bought the israelien technology, that is it.

I still think kinect is "innovative"

but MS, overall, is THE MOST NON INNOVATIVE COMPANY EVER
they just created (stolen) Window and made tonne of money on it

So now BIll Gates stole windows, from whom?

OT, I don't think that it deserves this award as it's most likely subjective as been pointed out before, therefore means jack overall, but comparing EyeToy to Kinect is just silly, it's like comparing a PS1 to PS3, the concept may be along the same lines but the latter is far better than the first.

What MS brought to consoles so far:

    Online capabilities(Original Xbox Live)

Internal Hard Drive(Idea akin to the PC hard drives, but they were the first to introduce it to consoles), unless there was a console before that did that and I am mistaken.

What about wireless controllers? Who's idea was that? <- that is not a flamebait question, I am genuinely not sure.

    talk about innovation lol

they brought online and HDD to consoles BUT it was already on PC for free (online) and cheaper (for HDD)
And even if they created window, there OS was a crap until they keep upgrading it with idea from others ... even Bill Gates himself knows it

MS is a marketing corporation, end.

It is an Apple like company in very worse

Do your research. Body motion recognition has been out for over a decade. Just because you learned about it through a company that "you" know make "them"(the company) innovative. oh you might say. Well "the company" put it to gaming. That makes them innovative.... wrong. It's been around for gaming for over a decade. It's just no company has been able to mass produce an acceptable device software to make it mass market appeal. Does money make them innovative... no.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

everytime there is someone that makes a troll thread they are always the people that average atleast 100 posts?

mate this is VGchartz, the world where there is no trolling, if you wanna troll go to IGN or G4
