Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo copied Apple's Playbook

Actually The Wind Waker was the beginning of Nintendo's Blue Ocean strategy.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

The ipod hasn't been doing as well lately, b/c competitors have been undercutting and offering better products.  Apple has all but dropped out of the computer race as well.

And they wonder why we give Sony fanboys a hard time.

Hey fishy, I agree with you on the basic premise of your post that nintendo is using the same strategy and

think that this has worked out quite well for nintendo, so far.

what? the 100 millionth ipod just got sold a couple days back! They own like 75% of the mp3 player market!

They've also been increasing mac sales. Right now, their marketshare is around 2-3%. Its not Dell or HP numbers, but that's enough to make a profit.

If a "fad" thing like the Ipod reaches 100 million in sales, then I hope the Wii is a fad

iPod sales are in an unbelievable acceleration. Through the end of 2005, they'd only sold just over 42 million units. Then they sold 46 million in 2006 alone. And another 11+ million in the first quarter of this year, putting them across the 100m mark and on pace for 61 million total this year.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

What? Don't bring in the facts. Fanboys don't have any time to bother themselves with the facts.

They iPod is a fad and is dying. Isn't that proof enough?

 Wow.  Just, wow.

Most illuminating post I've ever read.

the Wii is an epidemic.

LOL what the hell mang.

Where do people like dallas get their deluded ideas from?

I can understand someone having that opinion, but I can't understand how blind people can become.

Is it so irrational to provide facts and quotes and information for a post rather than saying something so in cumbersomely brain dead as what dallas just posted.

Mods, sorry if that's seen as 'bashing' but honestly I can't comprehend such idiocy.

Do people like that live their lives as a lie?  LOL it's making me narrow down into full philosophical human behaviour thinking... arg I hadn't entered this thread for ages and I shouldn't have it turns out.
